Co-extrusion is the process of creating a product with an expanded cereal shell, which is filled with a soft filling as the product is formed at the die. The soft filling is prepared separately and pumped from a holding tank into the expanded cereal shell at the die.

La co-extrusion nécessite la synchronisation de deux extrudeurs produisant les deux composants différents du produit qui extrude dans une filière spéciale. Quand un des composants est plus liquide, on utilise un seul extrudeur et le composant liquide est introduit au niveau de la filière à l'aide d'une pompe à vitesse variable. Dans ce cas le fourrage est injecté à l'intérieur du biscuit extrudé.

CONT

Dans certains cas, il y a à la fois co-extrusion et co-expansion, quand les deux produits expansent.
