DEF

A filter for the purification of water, in which water that has been previously treated, usually by coagulation and sedimentation, is passed downward through a filtering medium. The medium consists of a layer of sand, prepared anthracite coal... usually 24-30 in. thick, resting on a supporting bed of gravel or a porous medium... The filtrate is removed by an underdrainage system which also distributes the wash water.

CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blood
CONT

Hepatectomy under stable arterial pressure is considered the best surgical method to preserve the viability of the isolated liver. When surgery was performed on dogs, liver transplantation with the application of 2 venous shunts(between jugo-femoralis and jugo-portalis) proved to be the best method. It caused blood decompression from the interior vena cava and portal venous system to the superior vena cava. Insufficient blood transfusion deteriorated the coagulation indices. Blood rehabilitation during liver transplantation was necessary.
