... a synoptic acoustic system [has been used to] illuminate entire shoals of cod almost instantaneously, during the height of the spawning season. The team [of oceanographers] was able to image multiple cod shoals, the largest spanning 50 kilometers... From the images they produced, the researchers estimate that the average cod shoal consists of about 10 million individual fish. 1, record 1, English, - cod%20shoal

The cod trap is basically a room, with four walls and a floor, constructed of netting. Fish enter the trap through a doorway in the front wall. Extending outward from the centre of the doorway is a long wall of netting which, because of its function of leading fish into the trap, came to be called the leader. The trap is kept upright in the water by floats placed along the top of the walls, and lead weights at the bottom. It is held on location by a system of corner ropes anchored to the sea bottom. 3, record 2, English, - cod%20trap

Most of the studies on the digestive system in fish are on altrical fish larvae, such as cod and halibut. Since these larvae do not have a stomach at first-feeding, they have a reduced ability to digest conventional formulated diets, and are therefore given live feed. 2, record 3, English, - first%20feeding
