The distillation of coal for the production of gas, coke and the tarry materials used for the manufacture of dyes and organic chemicals results in a watery waste known as ammoniacal gas liquor, and the disposal of this is a cause of pollution. Ammoniacal gas liquor contains free ammonia, ammonium salts, cyanide, sulphide, thiocyanate, and a variety of aromatic compounds including pyridine, phenols, cresols and xylenols.... Gas liquor, discharged untreated to a stream, has an extremely high oxygen demand, many times greater than that of sewage. 1, record 2, English, - ammoniacal%20gas%20liquor

A [coke drum] is a type of pressure vessel that uses heat and pressure to refine complex hydrocarbons into lighter, more useful products, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Coke drums are an integral part of coker units and serve as the final step in the cracking process. During the process, crude oil is fed into a coker, where it is first heated to cracking temperature in a furnace. It is then sent through a transfer line to the coke drum for final processing. 3, record 3, English, - coke%20drum

"Estoppe, "says Lord Coke, "cometh of the French word "estoupe, "from whence the English word stopped; and it is called an estoppel or conclusion, because a man's own act or acceptance stoppeth or closeth up his mouth to allege or plead the truth. "Estoppel may also be defined to be a legal result or "conclusion" arising from an admission which has either been actually made, or which the law presumes to have been made, and which is binding on all persons whom it affects. Or we may adopt the definition of estoppel given by Bramwell, L. J., as follows :"An estoppel may be said to exist where a person is compelled to admit that to be true which is not true, and to act upon a theory which is contrary to the truth. This formula nearly approaches a correct definition of estoppel. "(Everest & Strode's, 3rd ed., 1923, p. 1). 1, record 21, English, - estoppel

Historically, the word "mortmain" is derived from the Norman-French meaning a "dead hand" because, said Coke, "the lands were said to come to dead hands as to the lords, for that by alienation in mortmaine they lost wholly their escheats, and in effect their knights-services for the defence of the realms, wards, marriages, reliefs, and the like; and therefore was called a dead hand, for that a dead hand yieldeth no service.(Anger & Honsberger, 2nd ed., 1985, p. 1489) 1, record 30, English, - mortmain

The IGCC [Integrated Gasification with Combined Cycle] demonstration plant in Puertollano features many advantages compared to conventional coal fired power stations with flue gas desulphurization(FGD) and DeNOx systems :... The plant consists of the following three main units : Power island, gasification island, and oxygen production plant(Air Separation).... The gasification island is based upon the PRENFLO system, which is a PRessurized ENtrained-FLOw gasifier with dry feeding.... The plant is designed to gasify 2, 600 t/day of the design feedstock, which is a 50/50 mixture of a local high ash coal and a high sulphur petroleum coke. However, the plant can handle a wide range of feedstocks.... [Text accompanied by a schematic diagram. ] 1, record 89, English, - gasification%20island
