A photo lineup typically consists of a number of photographs, including a picture of the suspect. By law, subjects in the photo lineup must be similar in appearance to the suspect so as not to unduly highlight or intentionally elicit a response that could be prejudicial to the accused. Positive identification by the witness can be used to arrest the suspect, and may come into evidence should the case go to trial. 4, record 1, English, - photo%20lineup

Institutionally, there was a great reluctance on the part of the police to "interfere" in family matters.... [Even when the police intervened and charges were laid, due to ] backlogs in the court system, charges frequently took months to come to trial, which permitted the "honeymoon" or "courting syndrome" of remorse to effect a "reconciliation" and defeat the process of justice. 2, record 3, English, - honeymoon%20of%20remorse

The learning theory of Thorndike represents the original S-R framework of behavioral psychology : Learning is the result of associations forming between stimuli and responses. Such associations or "habits" become strengthened or weakened by the nature and frequency of the S-R pairings. The paradigm for S-R theory was trial and error learning in which certain responses come to dominate others due to rewards. 3, record 4, English, - trial%20and%20error%20learning

Trial and error learning. Students now are rewarded almost exclusively for getting the right answer on a test. A system more in tune with leadership in today’s world would involve students more often in trial and error projects, in which one learns from what goes wrong as well as what goes right. 4, record 4, English, - trial%20and%20error%20learning
