According to... the "Standard Proctor test"... a sample of soil is dried, pulverized and separated into two fractions by a no. 4 sieve. About 6 lb of the finer fraction are moistened with a small quantity of water and thoroughly mixed to produce a damp aggregate that is then packed, in three equal layers, into a cylindrical container of specified dimensions. Each layer is compacted by 25 blows of a standard tamper that is allowed to fall from a height of 1 ft. When the cylinder has been filled and struck off level at the top, the weight and the water content of the damp soil of the container are determined. By means of these quantities, the dry density can be computed. In a similar manner the dry density is determined for successively damper mixtures of the aggregate, until the dry density after compaction decreases conspicuously with increasing water content. A curve is plotted showing the relation between dry density and water content. 3, record 1, English, - standard%20Proctor%2Dtest

6, record 1, French, - Proctor%20normal

The Insect Habitat (IH) was designed to support a variety of insect species. However, during the initial flight increments, it will be dedicated to experiments using Drosophila melanogaster, or fruit flies. The Insect Habitat will enable studies of the fruit fly to learn how microgravity affects development, nervous system function, movement and behavior, growth, reproduction, aging, gene expression, mutagenesis from radiation and circadian rhythms or sleep/wake cycles. 2, record 8, English, - insect%20habitat

The IH will support single-and multi-generation experiments that have approximate external dimensions of 13. 5 cm(L) x 2. 25 cm(D) x 7. 0 cm(H) each. The flies will live in two chevron-shaped container elements. These containers can be divided into two parts using the internal food cylinders; this yields two 55 ml containers that can support up to 100 Drosophila through to egg-laying. Alternatively, the containers can be left undivided, which yields a single 110 ml volume that supports up to 200 Drosophila.... The two insect containers reside in the science element portion of the IH. The science element consists of two environmentally controlled "drawers. "Each drawer contains a centrifuge that can provide up to 2G. Each centrifuge will hold six insect containers. Typically, one drawer will have a microgravity environment and the other drawer will have a defined gravity environment, although the precise gravity regimen for each centrifuge can be determined by the researcher. 2, record 8, English, - insect%20habitat

Habitats in the Space Station Fundamental Biology Research Facility (SSFBRF) enable studies on a variety of organisms across multiple science disciplines. They allow scientists to conduct experiments in habitats that are similar in design to those that have been used in labs for ground studies. Each habitat provides life support, environmental control, and monitoring systems and can be housed in one or more of the three major host systems: the Centrifuge, Life Sciences Glovebox, and Habitat Holding Rack. This hardware was designed to automate as much as possible, thus providing maximizing science return while requiring minimal crew time. 5, record 8, English, - insect%20habitat

Workpieces having dimensions less than 4 in. can be powder coated with a device known as an electrostatic fluidized bed. In this process, powder is held in a container having an open top and a porous bottom through which an upward flow of air causes the powder mass to levitate or "fluidize". Charging electrodes near the surface impart an electrical charge to the powder. Electrically grounded workpieces pass over the surface of the bed and collect a coating of powder. The coating is then cured in a baking oven. There are techniques for applying dry powder coatings without the use of electrostatics.... These processes typically involve preheating the workpiece to a temperature substantially above the melting point of the powder and then applying the powder, either by dipping the workpiece into a fluidized bed or by spraying air-suspended powder directly onto the hot surface of the workpiece. The powder melts immediately upon contact and flows to form a film, which is subsequently cured in a bake oven. 2, record 18, English, - sublimation%20coating

1, record 18, French, - rev%C3%AAtement%20appliqu%C3%A9%20par%20sublimation
