Le terme «tous terrains» définit des sols naturels, non aménagés. Ces sols peuvent être plus ou moins compacts, secs ou humides, plans ou dénivelés, de bonne ou de moyenne portance. Ou au contraire extrêmement boueux, de faible portance, avec grandes dénivellations et présentant des accidents tels qu'ornières, rocs ou souches d'arbre dépassant la surface du sol. Ils peuvent être argileux, sablonneux, etc. Mais un chariot «tous terrains» doit pouvoir également rouler sur une route goudronnée ou sur une aire bétonnée sans en abîmer la surface du revêtement.

Ne pas confondre avec «chariots tous chemins», type voisin de chariots que l'on utilise la où la place au sol est réduite, où le sol est grossièrement compacté et relativement plan (dans des parcs extérieurs de stockage de matériaux où il peut y avoir des accidents à franchir tels que rails, par exemple), et dont les roues et la largeur hors tout est moindre que dans les chariots tous terrains.

Vertical case loaders. This method of case loading is used primarily in the beverage, glass, can, and plastic container industries, where fragile or irregular-shaped containers require some special packing considerations. As with the horizontal case packers, the product is delivered to the machine infeed conveyor from upstream filling equipment to the accumulator section.... When all lanes are filled in the accumulator area, a formed corrugated case is positioned underneath the loading mechanism ready for depositing. At that point, retractable shifter plates in the accumulator area move out allowing the containers to drop vertically through fingers into the cells of the case...
