In 1989, the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment(CCME) launched the National Contaminated Sites Remediation Program(NCSRP), sponsored and administered by bilateral agreements between the federal government and the provincial and territorial governments. One of the components of the NCSRP is the DESRT(Development and Demonstration of Site Remediation Technology) Program, which ran from 1992 to 1995.
