CORRECTIVE GLASSES [3 records]

Record 1 2011-02-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Optics
  • Air Transport
CONT

A positive sphere lens(e. g., reading glasses) or lens segment(e. g., bifocals or trifocals) can be used to compensate for the older eye's lost focusing capacity.... A positive sphere(convex) corrective lens is used to add refractive power and bring near objects to better focus.

CONT

Record 2 2008-09-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aerospace Medicine
  • Aircraft Piloting and Navigation
CONT

When correcting glasses are required to meet the near and intermediate vision standards, an appropriate limitation will be placed on the medical certificate.... If the applicant meets the uncorrected near or intermediate vision standard of 20/40, but already uses spectacles that correct the vision better than 20/40, it is recommended that the AME(authorized medical examiner) enter the limitation for near or intermediate vision corrective glasses on the certificate.

CONT

It is true that intermediate vision is as important as distant vision for an airline transport pilot; however, distant vision is the most important in avoiding collision.

Subject field(s)
  • Protective Clothing
CONT

Respirators with tight-fitting facepieces must not be worn by employees who have facial hair or any condition that interferes with the face-to-facepiece seal or valve function. Corrective glasses or goggles or other PPE must be worn in a manner that does not interfere with the face-to-facepiece seal. Employees wearing tight-fitting respirators must perform a user seal check each time they put on the respirator using the procedures in Appendix B-1 or equally effective manufacturer's procedures.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Vêtements de protection
CONT
