The illuminants A and D65, defined by the CIE in terms of relative spectral power distributions.

These illuminants are intended to represent : 1. A-Planckian radiation with a temperature of 2 856 K; 2. D65-A daylight illuminant or phase of daylight with a correlated colour temperature of approximately 6 500 K(also called "nominal correlated colour temperature of the daylight illuminant, "i. e. "approximate" and "nominal" are used).

The degree to which perceived colours of an object illuminated by a test source conform to the colours of the same object illuminated by a reference source with similar correlated colour temperature.

CONT

The CRI rates the ability of the bulb to render an object’s true color when compared to sunlight. Look for lamps with a CRI of 80 or higher.

Lamps of low correlated colour temperature are usually described as having a warm apparent colour, and lamps of high correlated colour temperatures as having a cold apparent colour.

OBS

Basically, colour temperature describes the colour appearance of a light source. Sources with low colour temperature (below 3000 K) are described as "warm," and lean towards the red side of the spectrum. High colour temperature sources (above 4 000 K) are more bluish and are described as "cool".

The colour of light sources can be described by two independent properties :colour temperature(or correlated colour temperature for fluorescent sources), and colour rendering index.

CONT

The CCT refers to the color objects emit when heated to a certain temperature on the absolute temperature scale (Kelvin). The lower numbers correspond to reddish color and the higher to blue-white color.

A CCT of 2700 to 3000 K most closely resembles incandescent lamps, while a higher CCT produces a "cool white" light.

Cool white lamps are usually cheaper than those with rare earth phosphors, and are suitable for lighting applications such as garages and utility spaces.
