On 18 April 1982, on the occasion of a symposium organized by ICOMOS Tunisia and a corresponding meeting of the Bureau in Hammamet, it was suggested that a day be established to celebrate the diversity of heritage throughout the world. From this idea, the International Day for Monuments and Sites was born. This project was approved by the Executive Committee who also provided practical suggestions to the National Committees on how to organize this day. Last but no least, the idea was also approved by the UNESCO General Conference who passed a resolution as its 22nd session in November 1983 recommending that Member States examine the possibility of declaring 18 April each year "International Monuments and Sites Day".

Subject field(s)

CONT

The chemistry of pore fluids is directly related to the nature of the binder, to its content in soluble alkali oxides and to the water/binder ratio. Experimental data has mainly been obtained with pure pastes or mortars and measured contents of OH-ions were between 0. 2 and 0. 8 M under these conditions, corresponding to pHs of around 12. 8 to 13. 7. The main cations are Na+ and K+, in equivalent amounts :[Na+] + [K+]=[OH-] This is why the first member(alkali cations) is often confused-sometimes incorrectly-with the second(alkalis or OH-ions).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sortes de béton
CONT
