The ability of certain restriction enzymes to recognize rather short, specific sequences of DNA as targets for cleavage opens a direct approach to gene structure. It is possible to proceed to determine the sequence of DNA between points that are sufficiently close together by suitable choice of points, regions can be connected into a sequence of the entire gene. The sequence of the DNA then can be compared with the sequence of the protein that the gene represents. This allows the regions corresponding to the protein to be delineated; and, by extending the sequence in either direction, the distance to the next gene can be determined. 2, record 14, English, - gene%20structure

A technical indicator is a series of data points that are derived by applying a formula to the price data of a security. Price data includes any combination of the open, high, low or close over a period of time. Some indicators may use only the closing prices, while others incorporate volume and open interest into their formulas. The price data is entered into the formula and a data point is produced. For example, the average of 3 closing prices is one data point((41+43+43)/3=42. 33)... A series of data points over a period of time is required to create valid reference points to enable analysis. By creating a time series of data points, a comparison can be made between present and past levels. For analysis purposes, technical indicators are usually shown in a graphical form above or below a security's price chart. Once shown in graphical form, an indicator can then be compared with the corresponding price chart of the security. 2, record 20, English, - technical%20indicator

Electrophoresis in a stabilised pH gradient. High-resolution method for separating molecules, especially proteins, which carry both positive and negative charges. Molecules migrate to the pH corresponding to their isoelectric point. 2, record 22, French, - %C3%A9lectrofocalisation

Two ways of exploring the relationships within a set of objects are : classification, in which the objects are partitioned into groups of similar objects; and ordination, in which the objects are represented by a configuration of points in a low-dimensional space, with contiguity of points indicating similarity of the corresponding objects.(Source : MATHSCI : Cf. Point readback is useful from a graphics utility standpoint. One display screen can be copied to another by reading all the points on one screen and plotting the corresponding points on the other. Similarly, screen data can be transferred to a graphics printer or plotter. Selective erase methods that allow individual points or lines to be erased instead of the entire screen often rely on point readback. 1, record 47, English, - point%20readback
