CORROSION-RESISTANT STEEL [7 records]

Record 1 2016-11-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Steel
  • Plating of Metals
  • Coining
DEF

An alloy steel having unusual corrosion resistant properties; usually containing some nickel and chromium.

OBS

corrosion-resistant steel; CRS : term and abbreviation officially approved by the Aeronautical Terminology Standardization Committee(ATSC)-Helicopters.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Acier
  • Placage des métaux
  • Monnayage
DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Ferrous Alloys
CONT

The earliest of the present-day HSLA [High-Strength Low-Alloy Steels] was "COR-TEN" brand, a steel with excellent atmospheric corrosion resistance, which was introduced by United States Steel in 1933... COR-TEN steel and other corrosion-resistant HSLA steels have been used for exposed members of buildings because the architects desired the appearance of the tightly adherent oxide coating that forms on this steel.

CONT

Sculpture en acier patinable (cor-ten).

English

Subject field(s)
  • Pipes and Fittings
  • Industrial Standardization
CONT

The pipe wall thickness schedules listed in American Standard B36.19 are applicable only to corrosion-resistant materials.

CONT

Schedules 5S and 10S are available in corrosion-resistant materials and Schedule 10S is also available in carbon steel.

CONT

The CPVC pipe and fittings investigated are intended for use as sprinkler system piping. The pipe and fittings are intended to be joined together by the primer and solvent cement method and the one step solvent cement. The pipe is manufactured to a standard dimension ratio (SDR) of pipe diameter to wall thickness per ASTM F-442-82 of 13.5 in sizes 3/4" to 3", and the fittings are manufactured in Schedule 80 dimensions from 3/4" to 3" per ASTM F437-82 and F439-82.

CONT

Condensing flue gas furnaces and boilers... have additional heat exchange surfaces, often made of stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant material, to lower the flue gas temperature below the temperature of condensation and regain some or all of the heat these gases contain. Most have an induced draft fan. There is no need for a chimney... Condensing furnaces and boilers use one of two types of combustion systems : Conventional Combustion condensing furnaces... use both conventional and stainless steel sections for the non-condensing and condensing portions of the heat exchanger. Pulsating Combustion systems are now available.

CONT

Condensing flue gas furnaces and boilers... Most of the recent publicity about new gas furnaces has mentioned the condensing units. The furnaces have additional heat exchange surfaces, often made of stainless steel or other corrosion-resistant material, to lower the flue gas temperature below the temperature of condensation and regain some or all of the heat these gases contain. Most have an induced draft fan. There is no need for a chimney. Combustion products are merely vented through an outside wall and liquid condensate drained off through a plastic tube.

Based on a design developed... in Canada... pulsating combustion eliminates the need for an induced draft fan, by exhausting the combustion products with a series of pressure pulses while condensing the by-products to regain some of the heat contained in the exhaust gases.
