In this regard, the PPSC assumes the role played within the Department of Justice Canada by the former Federal Prosecution Service(FPS), and takes on additional responsibilities for prosecuting new fraud offences under the Financial Administration Act as well as offences under the Canada Elections Act. 1, record 25, French, - Initiative%20sur%20le%20renouvellement%20du%20syst%C3%A8me%20de%20justice%20pour%20les%20jeunes

Today, the Minister's power to review convictions is set out in sections 696. 1-696. 6 in Part XXI. 1 of the Criminal Code. The Regulations Respecting Applications for Ministerial Review-Miscarriages of Justice outline the requirements for an application as well as the procedure that is followed once an application has been completed. Accusatory (= accusing; of the nature of an accusation) is occasionally confused with accusatorial, which means "of or pertaining to an accuser" or, more specifically, "indicating the form of criminal prosecution in which the alleged criminal is publicly accused of his crime and is tried in public by a judge who is not also the prosecutor" ... (accusatorial procedure). 2, record 51, English, - accusatorial
Record number: 51, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Accusatorial, denoting the common-law system of criminal procedure, may be contrasted with the civil-law term inquisitorial(which describes "a system of criminal justice... in which the truth is revealed by an inquiry into the facts conducted by the judge". Despite its neutral sense in civil law, common-law writers frequently use inquisitorial, as contrasted with accusatorial, in pejorative senses,... A variant term for accusatorial procedure is adversary procedure, although the latter term may suggest civil as well as criminal proceedings. 2, record 51, English, - accusatorial

1, record 56, French, - Un%20pont%20sur%20l%27ab%C3%AEme%20du%20silence
