OBS

The Police Reporting and Occurrence System(PROS) is the replacement solution for the RCMP's aging occurrence and records management system. With a single point of data entry for storing and accessing complete police occurrence information, PROS will make it easier to document, manage, access and exchange information on case files. Capable of adapting to future technologies, it will also be able to meet evolving policing needs. PROS is designed to improve information sharing and system integration among criminal justice community partners. A key integrating system, PROS is a crucial building block of the Canada Public Safety Information Network(CPSIN), a national network of partners mandated to improve electronic information exchange within the criminal justice and law enforcement communities.

CONT

Canada’s Constitution includes a Charter of Rights and Freedoms that guarantees every Canadian security of the person. People who live in poverty do not have security of the person. If they live in hunger, their health and their lives are at risk. If they are homeless, they do not have physical or mental security.

CONT

Because of the dependence of individuals upon health care services, the legislators have the obligation to ensure that essential needs will be met, especially if an individual is unable to secure the service himself. This obligation has devolved to professionals who willingly undertake to provide treatment... Thus, the Criminal Code has traditionally required persons to provide treatment if they have undertaken to do so or if they are responsible for disabled persons. These obligations should be maintained and expanded, if necessary, to guarantee all Canadians a basic security of the person.

French

  • Droit de la famille (common law)
  • Droit social
CONT

Thorvaldson maintains that reparative sentencing(stressing the needs of the victim) will become more prevalent in Canada. Among the changes he sees taking place in future years are the following : sanctions such as compensation, restitution, community service and victim service will be established and imposed by criminal courts as independent sanctions, i. e., as dispositions which are independent of any other sanctions such as probation or fines.

CONT
