Abortion access is a critical component of comprehensive reproductive health care; it is vital for maintaining bodily autonomy as well as promoting individual and community health, safety, and well-being. In the United States, approximately [one in four] people with the capacity for pregnancy will seek first trimester abortion care by the age of 45. Both medication and procedural abortions are safe, with complications being rare. Despite this, 89% of US counties do not provide abortion care, and thousands of people face numerous barriers each to access the care they critically need. These barriers can take the form of restrictive state or federal laws, financial limitations, religious prohibitions within certain health systems, and widespread stigma associated with being an abortion provider. 3, record 1, English, - abortion%20access

Liberal Plan for Better Health Care. The National Waiting Times Reduction Strategy is a major effort to work to measure and publish existing waiting times, determine which waiting times should be reduced first, and, then to do what it takes to bring waiting times down. The federal government will work collaboratively with provinces and territories, the medical profession and patient groups to define reasonable and medically appropriate waiting times, and to identify the places where they are unacceptably long. Teaching hospitals and regional health authorities--which play such a critical role in the system--will also be asked to contribute to the process. 1, record 22, English, - National%20Waiting%20Times%20Reduction%20Strategy

The proposed primary goal of CHRIMCY are to initiate, support and disseminate excellence in peer-reviewed research encompassing the critical stages of life, including preconception, pregnancy, fetal and newborn development, and growth and development throughout childhood and adolescence. These primary goals define the nature of research that would be supported by the proposed institute, and clearly distinguish this institute from others that may form within the CIHR. Research would be conducted in the fields of basic biomedical science, clinical and applied health, health services and health care systems, and population health, with a particular focus on the determinants of health. The proposed main objectives of CHRIMCY is to reinforce individual investigator initiatives by aiding in the formation of networks of research teams that would cross disciplines, institutions, regions and the country. This includes providing mechanisms for researchers to work across the institutes of the CIHR. CHRIMCY would have the unique mandate and framework to identify reserach themes and to harness reserach expertise cross the country, and to focus on priority issues affecting the health of mothers, children and youth. 3, record 28, English, - Canadian%20Health%20Research%20Institute%20for%20Mother%2C%20Child%20and%20Youth
