CONT

[Endolaser] is a critical component of vitreoretinal surgery. Endolaser coagulation is a method by which the laser light is brought directly inside the eye through a fiber optic cable connected to the laser delivery console for treatment to the retina. When the surgeons is performing an intraocular surgery and a need for coagulation exists, the laser light is directed toward the desired area through a probe and photocoagulation is performed.... Endolaser probes are available in several forms such as—straight/curved, blunt/tapered, simple/aspirating, and even illuminating. The most commonly used is the straight probe with a blunt or tapered tip. The curved tip helps in accessing the anterior-superior retina or peripheral retina near the surgeon's dominant hand with ease.

DEF

An interruption of the typical structure of a weldment, such as a lack of homogeneity in the mechanical, metallurgical, or physical characteristics of the material or weldment. [Definition standardized by the AWS.]

CONT

The radiation produced by X-ray tubes and by isotopes such as Iridium 192 and Cobalt 60 can look through welds to reveal discontinuities invisible to the human eye. The soundness of critical joints is laid bare on the radiographic film. The radiographer can then interpret the indications on the film and measure any discontinuity against the acceptance criteria of the applicable code. Repairs can be made as necessary. The radiographs are a permanent record of weld quality.

OBS

A discontinuity is not necessarily a defect.

CONT

In assessing whether two trademarks are confusingly similar, the degree of resemblance in appearance or sound is often a critical factor. Trademarks should be considered as a whole, and not broken down into their parts. As well, the first words in a phrase are given the most weight in distinguishing between trademarks because the human eye reads from left to right.

CONT

In determining whether trade-marks or trade-names are confusing, the court or the Registrar, as the case may be, shall have regard to all the surrounding circumstances including ... (e) the degree of resemblance between the trade-marks or trade-names in appearance or sound or in the ideas suggested by them.
