[The fisheries research service] agreed that the correct positioning of [a square mesh netting panel] was critical and concluded that the ideal location with a view to reduce the risk of twisting was in the top sheet at the end of the tapered netting section.... Furthermore[, ] if positioned at the end of the tapered section, the length and cutting rate of the main trawl body might have to be adjusted to allow for a shorter extension/codend length... This was to ensure enough netting to enable the codend to be hauled to the bag hatch, usually positioned on a vessel' s starboard side. 1, record 1, English, - tapered%20netting%20section

The PVR [Photovoltaic Radiator] is a critical component of the space station's thermal control system. It will cool the photovoltaic power system electronic equipment and the batteries used for power storage. The PVR will also provide environmental cooling for the service module during early phases of the space station. Each PVR Orbital Replacement Unit(ORU) consists of 7 radiator panels, each about 6 feet by 12 feet in size. The radiator panels are designed to deploy on orbit from a stowed position about 2 feet high to an extended position about 50 feet in length. A calibrated device developed by Parshall for measuring the flow of liquid in an open conduit. It consists essentially of a contracting length, a throat, and an expanding length. At the throat is a sill over which the flow passes at Belanger's critical depth. The upper and lower heads are each measured at a definite distance from the sill. 4, record 16, English, - Parshall%20flume

Prescribed distance between consists circulating on the same track. In the block system, the track is divided into block sections which must each contain no more than one consist. In practice, the smallest spacing permitted is equivalent to the braking distance, calculated as a function of braking capacity, response time, length of track section, and, if applicable, total length of powered sections, a critical parameter in the control of electrical demand. 1, record 17, English, - spacing

1, record 17, French, - espacement

The aerodrome must be designed to accommodate aeroplane operations under most normal wind conditions. A tail wind on one runway is a head wind on a runway with a reciprocal heading. Runway lengths increase with tail wind, so when using the bidirectional runway concept(i. e. theoretically utilizing a head wind for all conditions in establishing runway length), the zero-wind condition is critical for both take-off and landing. 1, record 18, English, - bidirectional%20runway%20concept

1, record 18, French, - notion%20de%20piste%20bidirectionnelle
