CONT

To support separation standards even smaller than those now envisaged for the most critical area, research and development should be encouraged to carry out feasibility studies. An accuracy figure of 5 nautical miles standard deviation has been suggested as a goal.

OBS

standard deviation; SD: term and abbreviation officially approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
CONT

Technique in which the mobile phase(fluid) is maintained at temperatures somewhat above its critical point. The mobile phases used in SFC are gases such as freon, ethylene, or carbon dioxide. It has superior solution properties and enhances the chromatographic separation of higher molecular weight compounds. The column packings used in SFC are the same as those used in HPLC.

CONT

In a cyclone dust arrestor the cut is the critical particle size. In dense-medium treatment the cut is the specific gravity at which separation takes place. All particles lighter than the cut float and all those denser sink.

CONT

cut diameter. The diameter of the particles such that 50% of the particles of that size are collected and 50% are not.

  • Pollution de l'air
  • Agents de pollution

CONT

(...) 3. Les prélèvements avec fractionnements granulométriques.

CONT

Although not only related to the separation function, the geotextile during its placement must survive the installation process. Indeed, fabric survivability is critical in all types of applications;... In this regard, sharp stones, tree stumps, roots, miscellaneous debris, and so on, on the ground beneath the geotextile present a problem for puncturing through the fabric after stone base and traffic loads are imposed above it.

OBS

The Corps of Engineers first developed the puncture test for geotextiles in the early 1970s. The original Corps method specified the following: ASTM Method of Testing Coated Fabrics ... tension testing machine with ring clamp and replacing the steel ball with an 8-mm ... diameter solid steel cylinder (flat tip) centered within the ring clamp. Since its origin, the U.S. Corps of Engineers has modified the original puncture test to use a hemispherical tip probe rather than a flat tip probe to penetrate the geotextile.

  • Mécanique des sols
OBS

Percement.
