Another important type of non-Newtonian fluid is a viscoplastic or "yield stress" fluid. This is a fluid which will not flow when only a small shear stress is applied. The shear stress must exceed a critical value known as the yield stress... for the fluid to flow. For example, when you open a tube of toothpaste, it would be good if the paste does not flow at the slightest amount of shear stress. We need to apply an adequate force before the toothpaste will start flowing. So, viscoplastic fluids behave like solids when the applied shear stress is less than the yield stress. Once it exceeds the yield stress, the viscoplastic fluid will flow just like a fluid. Bingham plastics are a special class of viscoplastic fluids that exhibit a linear behavior of shear stress against shear rate.... Examples of viscoplastic fluids are drilling mud, nuclear fuel slurries, mayonnaise, toothpaste, and blood. 1, record 29, English, - yield%20stress%20fluid

The enormous current generated during a short circuit produces damaging heat at a much faster rate than can be safely dispersed. Interrupt the current and you stop adding heat to the system. Time is a critical determinant of the amount of heat(energy) added. An electrical short that lasts three cycles, for example, adds six times the energy of one lasting just one-half cycle. It's in this sense that all circuit breakers and fuses "limit" current. Add a current limiting device, i. e. ususally a fuse, but sometimes a circuit breaker and fuse in series, that restricts the fault current to a value less than the starter's short-circuit withstand rating. 3, record 31, English, - current%20limiting%20device

Kaimannflex CC is the optimal solution for particularly critical conditions(high humidity percentage, high delta between i. t. and o. t.). Its excellent water vapour diffusion resistance µ, very low temperature conductivity value lambda, environmental and fire safety requirements make it the ideal insulation for any type of use in both civil and industrial air-conditioning systems... A flow of water vapour that tends to pass through the insulating material is created in air-conditioning systems as a result of the difference in pressure between the piping that is at a low temperature and the one of the surrounding air whose temperature is higher. The greater the water vapour resistance(µ), the longer the insulating material and its requirements last. 2, record 36, English, - water%20vapor%20resistance

Bifurcation is often associated with what is called symmetry breaking.... Symmetry is broken at bifurcation if all solutions are symmetric when a parameter is greater(or less) than a critical value but some are asymmetric when the parameter is less(or greater) than that value. For example, when a circular pond dries out, the mud at the bottom shrinks, and the pattern of the cracks of the mud which develops does not have circular symmetry. The causes of pattern selection are closely related to the bifurcations and the stability of the solutions of the governing equations. 2, record 38, English, - symmetry%20breaking

One of Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd. 's approaches to dealing with the challenge of productivity improvement is employee ownership. The firm is committed to the concept of share ownership for its profit-sharing plans. The plan is a broad coverage plan that applies equally to all full-time employees. Broad-based employee ownership increases the recognized value of the firm's business. Employees have stronger peer pressures to perform to the group standard, and they are more cost conscious. 3, record 41, French, - sensibilit%C3%A9%20%C3%A0%20l%27amorce

The second aspect of performance sensitivity is usually distinguished by the name of Propagation Sensitivity, which is a measure of the ability of an explosive to support or reinforce a detonation that has already been created. Since the tendency for the detonation wave to fail or fade increases as the hole diameter is reduced, it has become customary to measure propagation sensitivity by the(minimum) critical diameter of a charge at least six diameters long that will support the detonation process once created. At a point below this value, a detonation wave cannot be consistently propagated, and a misfire... may occur; or otherwise the reaction may be incomplete, resulting in a poor blast effect and significant fume. 1, record 42, English, - propagation%20sensitivity

2, record 42, French, - sensibilit%C3%A9%20%C3%A0%20l%27onde%20explosive

To be useful as an operational guide, social scoping is often cast in terms of the plant or animal species perceived by society to be important. Thus, among other more ecological criteria, Carins(1975) used commercial, recreational or aesthetic values as some of the bases for establishing a list of critical species. Similarly, Trutt(1978) established the focus for a major impact research programme on ’key species’ which were defined on the basis of abundance, and commercial, recreational and food value to man. 1, record 44, English, - critical%20species
