CROCHET LACE [2 records]

Record 1 2006-09-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Lace (Embroidery)
CONT

Crochet lace is an application of the art of crochet. Generally it uses finer threads and more decorative styles of stitching-often with flowing lines or scalloped edges to give interest. Variation of the size of the holes also gives a piece a "lacy" look.

OBS

There are several styles of crocheted lace : Filet crochet, Irish crochet and its modern derivatives, more freestyle crocheted lace, such as pieces striving to imitate reticella lace [and] round filet crochet, quite different in technique than filet crochet.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Dentelles
CONT

OBS

New direction in fibre. For Mrs. Brodie the exhibition(...) features her ability to combine a number of techniques(...) crochet, basketry, on-and off-loom weaving, bobbin lace and needle lace. She also uses a variety of materials, including jute, horsehair, bells, unspun wool, cotton, mohair, fishing line, bullrush stems, boucle, driftwood, string and unspun flax.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Tissage (Artisanat)
CONT
