Remotely acquired data using the Landsat satellite system provide a means for initiating crop growth simulation models and crop phenology models at a field level over a large geographic area. A model based on Landsat spectral data has been developed that estimates a spectral emergence of the crop at a pixel(field) level. This spectral emergence date is evaluated using dates of planting and emergence reported by farmers for their fields or spring wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) and barley(Hordeum vulare L.) located in North and South Dakota. The model can provide a means of understanding the distribution of crop emergence across all pixels of a region. This knowledge of emergence date of spring grains from satellite data provides an ability to run crop development and yield prediction models at field level. 1, record 3, English, - spectral%20emergence%20date

Conventional tillage incorporates or buries most of the crop residue into the soil. Typically this approach involves multiple passes in fields. Boron Deficiency. A small quantity of boron is required for normal growth of most plants. For some there is not much leeway between necessary and toxic amounts; other plants require or tolerate large amounts. Deficiency symptoms vary with the crop... Beets, turnips, other root crops. Black Heart, Brown Heart. Roots have dark spots; plants are gradually stunted and dwarfed; leaves are small, variegated, twisted. The interior of the beet or turnip has a dark brown to nearly black water-soaked area, sometimes with a hollow center.

1, record 38, French, - Programme%20de%20pr%C3%A9vention%20et%20d%27indemnisation%20des%20dommages%20caus%C3%A9s%20aux%20r%C3%A9coltes%20par%20la%20sauvagine

Microsprayers, also called mini-sprinklers or spitters, are similar in principle to drip systems in that water is applied only to a fraction of the ground surface. However, instead of dripping water from narrow-orifice emitters, microsprayer systems eject fine jets that fan out from a series of nozzles. Each nozzle can water an area of several square metres, which tends to be much larger than the individual areas wetted by single drip emitters. Microsprayers can thus help to enlarge the volume of soil available for the uptake of water and nutrients by crop roots(thereby obviating the need for multiple drippers). Enlarging the wetted volume is especially important for large trees. 2, record 47, English, - spitter

1, record 47, French, - spitter
Record number: 47, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 47, French, - spitter

Guide samples are prepared by senior inspectors to serve as comparative samples for interpreting abnormal grading factors present in a particular crop year, usually to reflect damage to grain from a specific area or to reflect a single grading factor. Senior inspectors also review samples of all types of shipments to ensure the accuracy of grain inspections. Each inspection point must maintain grade average samples and submit them periodically to head office for review. Any deviation from normal patterns is investigated, which may involve chemical analysis in the Grain Research Laboratory. 1, record 49, English, - guide%20and%20average%20samples

1, record 49, French, - %C3%A9chantillons%20t%C3%A9moins%20et%20%C3%A9chantillons%20moyens
