Crop-yield weather modelling refers to the techniques [that] can be used operationally to determine the likely effect of weather on yields. Although the incidence of weather conditions on yields is well established, its quantitative assessment is not always straightforward : time series analyses of agricultural statistics show that inter-annual variability... of crop yields can be roughly subdivided into [three] components :(i) trend,(ii) direct weather factors[, ] and(iii) indirect weather effects, pests, diseases, weed competition, etc. 1, record 1, English, - crop%2Dyield%20weather%20modelling

Yield components of crops. The yield of a grain crop plant can be divided into various components which together contributed to the yield. These components include : Heads, ears or pods per acre... Number of kernels or seeds per head, ear or pod... Weight per kernel or seed... Any crop production factor which decreases any one of these factors results in decreased yield.... Full yield potential is almost never achieved because environmental conditions may limit one or more of the yield components during the growing season. 2, record 2, English, - yield%20component

This concept is not new. What is new is the ability to automate data collection and documentation and the utilisation of this information for strategic farm management decision in the field operations through mechanisation, sensing and communication technology.... The term means different things to different people. To some, PF means using satellite, sensors and field or thematic maps. PF is in fact a comprehensive system designed to optimize agriculture production by carefully tailoring soil and crop management to fit the different conditions found in each field while maintaining environmental quality(Blackmore, et. al, 1994). 2, record 8, English, - precision%20agriculture

The Austoft 7000 harvester is a chopper harvester with a cleaning system. This harvester is used to cut green cane(with leaves). It cuts one row of cane at a time. The cane is fed between the crop dividers and cut at the root zone by base cutter blades. The cane is then fed through the roller train and is cut by the chopper drums into small cane pieces of 10 to 12".... In ideal conditions, the harvester can cut nearly 400 tonnes of sugarcane per day. 2, record 13, English, - chopper%20harvester

Didymella applanata, a fungus. The disease is found in western Oregon and Washington on red rasberry, ’Loganberry’, and ’Youngberry’. The ’Willamette’ cultivar of red raspberry is rapidly infected by spur blight but also is tolerant and can produce a satisfactory crop even if disease incidence is high. From early April mature black fruiting bodies(perithecia) can be found in the gray affected areas of cane tissue. Perithecia discharge ascospores during favorable(wet) weather, continuing perhaps until the end of June. Ascospores infect leaves on new shoots, but under very favorable conditions may infect young canes and laterals directly. 1, record 14, English, - spur%20blight

Intensive energy forestry is a form of highly mechanizable cultivation of genetically selected, fast-growing, coppicing woody plants grown with agricultural methods. The physical, chemical and biological conditions of the soil often need to be improved in order to ensure a reliable establishment and an intensive management, characterized by undisturbed physiological production processes and a better-than-normal development of the crop. After an optimal rotation length(3-10 years), the stand can be harvested in its dormant stage without damaging roots or stools. The ultimate goal is maximizing the sustained utilization of the site to highest profitability without causing any environmental hazard. 3, record 25, English, - energy%20forestry

Saline seep is a water quality problem prevalent in many areas ... and is related to geologic conditions and agricultural practices. Saline seeps form when water infiltrates downward through surface layers of glacial till and flows to low-lying discharge points along impermeable marine shale bedrock. It should be emphasized that the integration of herbicides into the crop protection program or system needs careful consideration. Main factors to be considered are the rotation sequence, the most common weed or complexes of weeds in the field, and their density and duration. Effort should be made in choosing and matching the particular herbicide(s) with the specific weed species or complexes of weeds present, the geographic location, and edaphic and environmental conditions. Many combinations of herbicides result in either additive or synergistic effects on weeds. The activity of soil-acting herbicides depends on such factors as persistence, absorption properties of the soil, soil organic matter, soil types, soil moisture, and cultivation. Herbicide rates may need to be adjusted on the basis of soil texture and type. As well as effects of soil on the performance of herbicides, there are converse effects of the herbicides on soil properties.... 2, record 32, English, - integrated%20weed%20management
