The Waterfowl Crop Damage Control Program was instituted in the late 1960s to compensate landowners for grain crops lost to field feeding to reduce the incidence of crop depredation in the area. Field studies indicated a need to upgrade the local crop damage control program; this is being done under the North American Waterfowl Management Plan activities in this region.

On a instauré le Programme de prévention et d'indemnisation des dommages causés aux récoltes par la sauvagine vers la fin des années 1960 afin d'indemniser les propriétaires fonciers pour les pertes de céréales dévorées par la sauvagine dans les champs. Pour ce programme, des cultures de diversion temporaires (sur 169 ha) et quatre points d'appât servent maintenant à réduire la dévastation des récoltes dans ce secteur. Les résultats d'études sur le terrain ont révélé qu'il fallait améliorer le programme local de prévention des dommages causés aux récoltes, ce qui se fait actuellement dans le cadre activités du PNAGS dans cette région.
