Opportunities for limiting agricultural emissions of N2O revolve around the careful matching of fertilizer N application to crop needs, and the timing of those applications to match crop uptake patterns. Fertilizer-N placement has been shown to increase crop uptake, and appears to be a promising avenue for limiting N2O emissions. 2, record 1, English, - crop%20uptake

These include the amount of data, the relative importance of the commodity in international trade, the potential for trade difficulties or accounts thereof, the frequency of positive results, a knowledge of the propensity of a particular crop to take up residues, e. g., the uptake of DDT [dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane] by carrots, historical monitoring data... 2, record 3, English, - extraneous%20maximum%20residue%20level

The uptake of soil nutrients by potatoes is high. Tillage and traffic over the field is frequent. The amount of crop residue that remains in the field after harvest is low. Mini-sprayer. The SPOT-SPITTER, a mini-sprayer for nursery and greenhouse applications, is an easy-to-use, low-cost horticultural product and is available in a variety of wetting patterns and flow rates. 3, record 7, English, - spitter
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Microsprayers, also called mini-sprinklers or spitters, are similar in principle to drip systems in that water is applied only to a fraction of the ground surface. However, instead of dripping water from narrow-orifice emitters, microsprayer systems eject fine jets that fan out from a series of nozzles. Each nozzle can water an area of several square metres, which tends to be much larger than the individual areas wetted by single drip emitters. Microsprayers can thus help to enlarge the volume of soil available for the uptake of water and nutrients by crop roots(thereby obviating the need for multiple drippers). Enlarging the wetted volume is especially important for large trees. 2, record 7, English, - spitter

1, record 7, French, - spitter
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 OBS
2, record 7, French, - spitter
