Simmental is an influential breed of cattle whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. Early records indicate that Simmental cattle were the result of a cross between large German cattle and a smaller breed indigenous to Switzerland. The name Simmental is derived from the name of the area where the cattle were first bred-the Simme Valley. 2, record 1, English, - Simmental

The area servers, which can each connect up to 256 control nodes, become the main communicators for the entire system, sending and retrieving data and commands to both the operations computer and to the appropriate intersection control node. 1, record 5, English, - in%20real%20time

Record number: 9, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Slight nuance between the English terms "rally" and "exchange". In a "rally", the ball must bounce; the term implies an "exchange" of groundstrokes. One can have an "exchange" of any type of shot, for instance, an exchange of volleys, where the ball never touches the ground. Moreover an "exchange" takes place between points; whereas a "rally" can take place between players simply wanting to hit a few balls without keeping score. In Spanish the term "intercambio" is generic. Therefore it means either "rally" or "exchange", depending on the context - "un intercambio de voleas de cerca, un intercambio de golpes de revés". Furthermore, one can use the term "exchange" in English when referring specifically to the length of a rally, i.e. the number of consecutive balls that pass over the net, as in the phrase "At Wimbledon, there were nary an exchange that exceeded 4 shots". 3, record 9, English, - rally

1, record 12, French, - point%20natt%C3%A9%20grec

The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. Once a series of hooks is engaged, the Space Shuttle is then successfully docked with Mir. 2, record 15, English, - docking%20target

Tapeless splicing is used to form face-veneer panels from several pieces. The backs and faces are glued to the cross bands and the core. The edges of the core are planed on the jointer. The core stock is edge glued and cut to panel size by a clipper machine.... All the plies are then ready to be glued into a sheet. Glue is applied to the sheets of veneer as they go through large rollers.... After the glue is applied to the cross-banded layers, core, face, and back panels, the press-gluing operation begins. The use of the giant hot press... is one of the crucial steps in the manufacture of plywood. Extreme pressure and controlled heat are used to cure(set) the adhesive.... After heating and pressing, skinner and trim saws cut the panel edges and stack the panels in one automatic operation.... 2, record 24, English, - tapeless%20splicer
