CONT

CONT

You can advance the cause of your pairing by improving the ability to use the player nearer the net [net guard] to intervene, or fake to do so, in the exchanges.

OBS

Slight nuance between the English terms "rally" and "exchange". In a "rally", the ball must bounce; the term implies an "exchange" of groundstrokes. One can have an "exchange" of any type of shot, for instance, an exchange of volleys, where the ball never touches the ground. Moreover an "exchange" takes place between points; whereas a "rally" can take place between players simply wanting to hit a few balls without keeping score. In Spanish the term "intercambio" is generic. Therefore it means either "rally" or "exchange", depending on the context - "un intercambio de voleas de cerca, un intercambio de golpes de revés". Furthermore, one can use the term "exchange" in English when referring specifically to the length of a rally, i.e. the number of consecutive balls that pass over the net, as in the phrase "At Wimbledon, there were nary an exchange that exceeded 4 shots".

PHR

Baseline, close-quarter exchange, 10-shot rally. Stroke, tempo of a rally.

The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. Wheat is a self-pollinating crop. A variety is a uniform and true breeding population tracing back to one plant. These "one plants" are selected by the wheat breeder from the segregating populations that occur over several generations following(usually) a cross between two distinct varieties. Pure or true breeding plants, and thus new varieties, are not usually obtained earlier thant some six or seven generations following the cross.

CONT

Mendel started his experiments with true-breeding plant varieties, which he then hybridized in controlled crosses. Menger's triadic fractal sponge. Karl Menger selects a different trema, shaped like a cross with spikes front and back, consisting of N=20 subcubes of side 1/3, connected to one another. Among them, 12 form "rods" or ropes, and the remaining 8 are knots, connectors, or ties.(...) I call it a sponge, because both the curd and the whey are connected sets.
