OBS

Le joueur absorbe son adversaire en feintant un bloc de front. Mais au dernier moment, il lance le bras droit (ou gauche) en travers du joueur défensif, tourne l'axe de ses épaules et expose tout le côté droit (ou gauche) de son corps au joueur défensif. Il atteint l'adversaire avec la hanche, à la hauteur de la ceinture. Empruntant une position «quatre points d'appui» modifiée (grab block), le joueur offensif continue son bloc en pressant l'adversaire de sa hanche. Vitesse, puissance et continuité de mouvement assurent le succès du bloc.

OBS

Le bloc de la hanche est utilisé à champ ouvert contre les secondeurs et les demi-défensifs mais en dernier recours peut servir de soupape de sécurité lors de la protection du passeur contre un joueur trop agressif.
