At the lowest level of the control framework are the intersection control nodes. As the name implies, these computers are located at each intersection where they gather and feed real-time data back to an area server. This information might include a pedestrian waiting to cross the street, or a damaged traffic pole. The area servers, which can each connect up to 256 control nodes, become the main communicators for the entire system, sending and retrieving data and commands to both the operations computer and to the appropriate intersection control node. 1, record 1, English, - in%20real%20time

Optical burst switching is a promising hybrid approach between coarse grain optical circuit switching and fine grain optical packet switching. The benefit of optical burst switching(OBS) over conventional circuit switching is that there is no need to dedicate a wavelength for each end to end connection. In addition, optical burst switching is more viable than optical packet switching as the burst data does not need to be buffered or processed at the cross connect. This allows the strengths of optical switching technologies to be leveraged effectively and the problem of buffering in the optical domain to be circumvented. 2, record 3, English, - optical%20burst%20switching

In the graphical approach [to separation of gravity anomalies], the regional effect must be estimated from plotted profile or contour maps of observed gravity; regional contours are interpolated more or less arbitrarily, being superimposed over the original gravity field.(...) Where the contours at a distance from a local anomaly are quite regular, it is possible to take out the regional trend by drawing lines which connect the undisturbed contours outside the area within which the anomaly is confined(...). Where the smoothed contours cross contours of observed gravity, the differences between the two, which have discrete values at each intersection, are marked and themselves contoured. The resulting map gives residual gravity. 2, record 5, English, - smoothed%20contours%20technique
