Record 5 2009-10-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Fission Reactors
CONT

The neutronic design and operational analysis of the NGNP requires core analysis tools(codes and data) for(1) cross section preparation and fuel assembly lattice calculations to produce effective nuclear parameters for subsequent whole-core analysis,(2) static reactor analysis for core design and fuel management...

Record 6 2009-09-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Instruments
  • Atomic Physics
OBS

Each measurement channel has, inside the nuclear reactor core, an instrumentation tube of a fuel assembly and a thimble placed inside the instrumentation tube, in which the fission probe moves around. Neutron flux measurements are carried out in a set of fuel assemblies distributed throughout the core cross section.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Instruments scientifiques
  • Physique atomique
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Facilities and Equipment (Wood Industries)
  • Plywood
OBS

Tapeless splicing is used to form face-veneer panels from several pieces. The backs and faces are glued to the cross bands and the core. The edges of the core are planed on the jointer. The core stock is edge glued and cut to panel size by a clipper machine.... All the plies are then ready to be glued into a sheet. Glue is applied to the sheets of veneer as they go through large rollers.... After the glue is applied to the cross-banded layers, core, face, and back panels, the press-gluing operation begins. The use of the giant hot press... is one of the crucial steps in the manufacture of plywood. Extreme pressure and controlled heat are used to cure(set) the adhesive.... After heating and pressing, skinner and trim saws cut the panel edges and stack the panels in one automatic operation....

English

Subject field(s)
  • Sewers and Drainage
  • Soil Mechanics (Engineering)
CONT

Transmissivity of a drainage net as a function of hydraulic gradient and compressive stresses: (a) the net is between two geomembranes; (b) the net is between a geomembrane and a heat-bonded non-woven geotextile ... .

OBS

The term fin drain is given to this form of composite geotextile drain because the water conducting sheet is generally in the form of a fin projecting upwards from a pipe. The fin drain sheet itself is formed from a water conducting core backed with a geotextile filter on either one or both sides. Geotextile mats, nets, and waffled plastic sheets (sometimes called geospacers) may be used as the core material ... .

OBS

Geotextile nets consist of two sets of roughly round polymer strands that cross at a constant angle to give very open geotextile with large diamond or rectangle shaped apertures. This mesh-like appearance led to the term "mesh" being initially applied to this type of geotextile before the industry standardized on the term "net".... This form of geotextile is mainly used as either comparatively low strength soil reinforcement or as the core material in a fin drain geotextile composite....

OBS

Synonyme : tapis drainant, matelas drainant.
