CROSS CUTTING [8 records]

Record 1 2023-07-12

English

Subject field(s)
  • Facilities and Equipment (Wood Industries)
  • Forestry Operations
DEF

A series of short skids laid parallel at regular intervals, used to support felled trees or logs while they are being sawed.

CONT

A bucking ladder... is of assistance when small stems are bucked at a landing. This ladder consists of a set of cross skids on which the tree lengths can be rolled. When you are cutting standard lengths, such as 4-or 5-foot bolts for pulpwood, you can place the skids exactly these distances apart.... The bucking ladder also eliminates the chance of sawing into the ground, and permits cutting conveniently at waist height.

Malco SD40 Double 4" Siding Gauge. [Followed by an illustration. ] Use it as a scribe or square to mark or score precise lines on double 4-inch vinyl siding panels. Or go straight to cutting either rip or square cross cuts. A utility knife blade can be inserted in the precise 1/8-inch hole increments as easily as a pencil or scoring tool.

Subject field(s)
  • Milling and Cereal Industries
  • Industrial Techniques and Processes
  • Grain Growing
CONT

The surface of the grinding rolls may be either corrugated or smooth. Break rolls are always corrugated with the grooves running in a spiral along the length of the roll. When the rolls are turning, the corrugations cross each other and this imparts a cutting and shearing action to the material between them. The slower roll tends to hold the stock(whole or partly broken kernels), while the faster roll scrapes endosperm from it. The number of corrugations increases with successive breaking stages. The rolls used for breaking the wheat, that is the first break rolls, have 4 to 5 corrugations per centimetre of roll circumference whereas the last break passage may be 11 to 12 corrugations per centimetre.

CONT

DEF

A section view established by revolving 90 degrees, in place, into a plane perpendicular to the line of sight, generally used to show the cross section of a part or feature that has consistent shape throughout the length.

CONT

A revolved section, sometimes referred to as a rotated section, is used to illustrate the cross section of ribs, webs, bars, arms, spokes or other similar features of an object.(...) A revolved section is made by assuming a cutting plane perpendicular to the axis of the feature of the object to be described.... Note that the rotation point occurs at the cutting-plane location and, theoretically, will be rotated 90 °.

CONT

Section rabattue.
