Tidal gravitational fields lead to differential deflection of light bundles. The size and shape of their cross sections are therefore changed. Since photons are neither emitted nor absorbed in the process of gravitational light deflection, the surface brightness of lensed sources remains unchanged. Changing the size of the cross section of a light bundle therefore changes the flux observed from a source. The different images in multiple-image systems generally have different fluxes. The images of extended sources, i. e. sources which can observationally be resolved, are deformed by the gravitational tidal field. 3, record 1, English, - tidal%20gravitational%20field

2, record 3, French, - rayon%20cr%C3%A9pusculaire

They all work in basically the same way, though. The plain areas of the diffusion filter allow the light to go straight through, forming a normal sharp image on the film. The areas of the diffusion filter that have been embossed or etched or waved or whatever bend the light that strikes them, forming one or more unsharp images that overlap the sharp one. 1, record 11, English, - diffusion%20filter

1, record 11, French, - bonnette%20%C3%A0%20flou
