A favourite manoeuvre in naval battle with fleets sailing in the normal battle disposition of line ahead. If a fleet in this disposition, either by a superiority of speed or by approaching at an angle, can cross ahead of the enemy's line approximately at right angles, it has a considerable tactical advantage in that all its guns can be fired on the broadside while the enemy can reply only with those guns which can fire ahead. It is also a tactical situation which forces an enemy to turn away, and in the resulting loss of speed during the turn and the difficulty of keeping guns bearing on an enemy while turning, the fleet "crossing the T" has a considerable gunnery advantage. 2, record 3, English, - crossing%20the%20T

5, record 14, French, - cochon

Peaceful penetration was an Australian tactic(though also used by New Zealanders), which was a cross between trench raiding and patrolling. The aim was similar to trench raiding(mainly, to gather prisoners, conduct reconnaissance, and dominate no man's land), with the additional purpose to occupy the enemies’ outpost line(and so capture ground). The term peaceful penetration came from pre-war British press describing the advancing penetration of German trade into British territories, and that the Germans had no need to fight, as they were gaining the British Empire through peaceful penetration. 1, record 22, English, - peaceful%20penetration

The Space Shuttle stops within 50 meters of Mir, which is approximately one-half the length of a football field. From that position the Space Shuttle waits for clearance from Mission Control to continue. When the command is given to continue, the Reaction Control System is activated again and the Space Shuttle closes in on Mir at a speed of about 0. 05 meters per second until it reaches a distance of about 9 meters. There, the Space Shuttle stops again and waits for approximately 5 minutes. The Commander and Pilot make sure they can see the docking target clearly and fine-tune the alignment of the Space Shuttle with the docking target. A large black cross called the Stand-off Cross is mounted 30 centimeters(cm) above the back plate in the center of the target. When the Commander has the Stand-off Cross squarely in line with the docking target, he or she maneuvers the Space Shuttle and makes contact with the docking ring. Ac Harper was developed from a cross between a scald resistant backcross line of Galt and BT364, which has high grain yield and strong straw. It has a combination of high yield potentiel, good resistance to lodging, short straw, and resistance to scald. Vacuum Exhaust System(Waste Gas). All of the laboratory modules contain the plumbing to support a waste gas exhaust system that is vented to space. A 2. 5 cm(1 in.) diameter gas line connected to this exhaust system is provided at each of the ISPR [International Standard Payload Racks] locations. The pressure allowed into the waste gas line is 275. 8 kPa(40 psia). The temperature of the exhaust waste gas is allowed to be be between 15. 6-45°C(60-113°F). The waste gas system can reach pressures of 1 x 10 [minus³] torr(1. 9 x 10minus 5 psia) in less than two hours for a single payload volume of 100 liters(3. 5 ft³) at an initial pressure of 101. 4 kPa(14. 7 psia). The waste gas system is a shared and scheduled resource that can only be operated at one ISPR location within each module at a time. This requirement is to prevent cross contamination of payloads and incompatible mixtures of waste gas constituents. The types of waste gas constituents allowed must be compatible with the wetted materials of the module waste gas system. 3, record 39, English, - waste%20gas%20exhaust%20system

Given that many elite lines are derived from F3 to F5 selections of a cross, it is reasonable to assume that at least some genetic heterogeneity exists within lines. In such cases, the frequency of each allele within the line was assumed to be 0. 5 instead of either 1. 0 or 0 as for homogeneous lines. This adjusts the allele frequency data for the purposes of calculating the probability of inheriting an allele from an ancestor or for calculating the frequency of an allele within the elite population. 1, record 43, English, - allele%20from%20an%20ancestor
