Tidal gravitational fields lead to differential deflection of light bundles. The size and shape of their cross sections are therefore changed. Since photons are neither emitted nor absorbed in the process of gravitational light deflection, the surface brightness of lensed sources remains unchanged. Changing the size of the cross section of a light bundle therefore changes the flux observed from a source. The different images in multiple-image systems generally have different fluxes. The images of extended sources, i. e. sources which can observationally be resolved, are deformed by the gravitational tidal field. 3, record 1, English, - tidal%20gravitational%20field

Phyllodes tumor. Previously known as "cystosarcoma phyllodes", this neoplasm is a bulky, fibroma-like tumor(i, e,, made up of proliferative ducts and stroma) having on cross section numerous clefts and slits creating leaflike [phyllodes] patterns of intervening tumor. Phyllodes tumors can be very large, causing breast distortion and pressure necrosis of overlying skin. These lesions can be either malignant(uncommon) or benign(common). Changes suggesting malignant potential include increased cellularity, anaplasia, high mitotic activity, and overgrowth of the stromal component. 1, record 12, English, - phyllodes%20tumor

Tumeur phyllode. 3, record 12, French, - tumeur%20phyllode

The alpha-neutron reaction, which occurs when alpha particles emitted from plutonium-238 interact with atoms of naturally occurring oxygen, results in a high neutron emission rate from plutonium oxide, and may cause a high neutron exposure to workers. Low waves with longer periods, primarily in summer, move sand from the bar and return it to the berm. The average wave height varies on a seasonal basis, resulting in typical “winter” (high energy) and “summer” (low energy) beach profiles.

A crevasse splay is a geographical feature which forms when an overloaded stream breaks a natural or artificial levee and deposits sediment on a floodplain. This breach can cause large deposits that spread in a pattern similar to that of a river delta. In other words, coarser sediment is deposited first, close to the breach while finer sediment is carried farther to the edges of the crevasse splay. In cross section, the crevasse splay will result in graded deposits which may look like a Bouma sequence. 3, record 70, English, - crevasse%20splay

3, record 89, French, - digue%20%C3%A0%20berme

The electric field is perpendicular to the cross-sectional area of the crystal. The crystal thickness is selected on the basis of the gamma-ray energy region relevant to the application of interest, with the small thicknesses optimum for low-energy measurements(for example in the L-x-ray region for special nuclear material). Planar detectors usually achieve the best energy resolution, because of their low capacitance; they are preferred for detailed spectroscopy, such as the analysis of the complex low-energy gamma-ray and x-ray spectra of uranium and plutonium. 1, record 91, English, - planar%20detector

2, record 91, French, - d%C3%A9tecteur%20planaire
