Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
1, record 1, Spanish, - hidroducto

A [coke drum] is a type of pressure vessel that uses heat and pressure to refine complex hydrocarbons into lighter, more useful products, such as gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. Coke drums are an integral part of coker units and serve as the final step in the cracking process. During the process, crude oil is fed into a coker, where it is first heated to cracking temperature in a furnace. It is then sent through a transfer line to the coke drum for final processing. 3, record 13, English, - coke%20drum

Most tankers carry either crude oil from oil fields to refineries or petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, or petrochemical feedstock from refineries to distribution centres. Some tankers with special food-grade holds, pumps, and other handling equipment can carry molasses, edible oil, and even wine in bulk. Specialized ships for transporting liquefied natural gas and fruit juices are often called tankers, though on these ships the cargo is actually carried in large refrigerated containers that fit into the hold. 4, record 14, English, - tanker

In contrast, conventional oil typically refers to crude oil which uses conventional vertical drilling techniques. 3, record 23, English, - conventional%20oil

Secondary recovery of oil. When a large part of the crude oil cannot be recovered simply by allowing the original reservoir pressure to furnish the driving energy, a method for supplying extra energy must be found. Gas-solid cocurrent downflow(downer) reactors offer many advantages over gas-solid cocurrent upflow(riser) reactors, such as better gas-solids contact efficiency, more uniform gas and solids residence time distributions and the potential capability of handling higher solids-gas loading ratios. These features make the downer an excellent reactor for fast reactions and especially for fast reactions where the intermediate is the product. This new type of reactor has so far not been well developed but has huge potential for many industrial processes such as fluid catalytic cracking of crude oil where further improvement in the gas-solids contact efficiency will lead to significant economic gains, pyrolysis of some solids waste into valuable organic products which provides a more energy efficient alternative to waste incineration... 1, record 53, English, - cocurrent%20downflow%20reactor

Many crude vegetable oils contain large amounts of phosphatides or "break" material. This material is very similar to the parent triglyceride except that one of the fatty acid chains has been replaced by a compound of phosphorus. The phosphatides precipitate as a gelatinous mass when the oil is heated to 260°C to 300°C.... In such a test, the oil is carefully heated in a test tube; if any break is present, the oil clouds at about 260°C and within 5° to 25°C the break will have separated.

One untested hypothesis in oil spill response is that "chemical dispersants do not work effectively in cold water. "This is due to the general misconception that cold water inhibits dispersant effectiveness(DE) and the lack of experimental data to indicate otherwise. To address this issue, the U. S. Minerals Management Service(MMS)... conducted two series of dispersant experiments in very cold water at Ohmsett... [Both] Corexit 9500 and Corexit 9527 dispersants were more than 90% effective in dispersing the fresh and weathered crude oils tested [and dispelled] the thought that chemical dispersants cannot be effective in cold water. 2, record 55, English, - dispersant%20effectiveness

Husky Energy's midstream operations reflect an extensive portfolio of assets, strategically situated throughout Western Canada, and linked to key transportation systems and markets across North America. Husky established new records in earnings and cash flow contribution from this segment during 2001 by marketing natural gas, crude oil, natural gas liquids and sulphur. Optimizing midstream potential is aided by the extensive heavy oil pipeline infrastructure and heavy oil processing owned and operated by Husky primarily in the bitumen corridor. 1, record 90, English, - midstream%20operations

4, record 93, French, - baril%2Dtitre
