CRUISE TIME [6 records]

Record 1 2023-06-27

English

Subject field(s)
  • Commercial Fishing
CONT

... a variation in catches [was noted] and progressively better catches on later cruises. Although most of the trawl hauls were made when the echo sounder showed "fish signs" near the bottom, a few midwater hauls were made when the sounder indicated fish schools at mid depths, but these hauls were invariably unproductive. Furthermore, because near-bottom trawling over the sea mounts was a new operation for the ship's officers, crew, and... scientists,... sufficient opportunity to become familiar with the net in the limited time available on each cruise [was needed].

Subject field(s)
  • Weather Stations and Meteorological Instruments and Equipment
  • Telecommunications
  • Air Transport
CONT

A post-accident examination of the airframe and engine revealed no mechanical malfunctions or anomalies that would have precluded normal operation. An aviation weather reporting station located 2 miles southeast of the accident site reported weather conditions about the time of the accident that were conducive to moderate carburetor icing at cruise power or serious icing at glide power.

Record 3 2002-07-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Piloting and Navigation
CONT

Performance management consists essentially of calculating the optimum parameters for each phase of flight, such as climb, cruise and descent, and for the flight as a whole, taking into account the characteristics of the aircraft, the flight plan, the known meteorological conditions and so on. The pilot can set the system to achieve minimum consumption, lowest cost or best time. The computations make it possible to predict cost, so that the pilot can propose a change in flight conditions to the FMS and discover what effect it might have on cost if he were to put it into practice.

CONT

Any flight by an aeroplane with two turbine power-units, where the flight time at the one power-unit inoperative cruise speed(in ISA and still air conditions), from a point on the route to an adequate alternate aerodrome is greater than the threshold time approved by the State of the Operator.
