When a taxi driver of an unoccupied taxi is seeking passengers on a road unknown to him or her in a large city, what should the driver do? Alternatives include cruising around the road or waiting for a time period at the roadside in the hopes of finding a passenger or just leaving for another road enroute to a destination he [or she] knows(e. g., hotel taxi rank) ?... There could be different answers to the question poised above, but one fundamental problem is how the driver learns about the likelihood of finding passengers on a road that is new to him [or her. ] 7, record 5, English, - unoccupied%20taxi

Parking is a universal pain point for drivers. People are frustrated and stressed during the search for a vacant parking area, with city drivers spending 30% of their time looking for spaces.... Taking public transportation, such as buses and the metro, can help reduce parking-related congestion and air pollution. Nonetheless, private vehicles are still used for convenience. To reduce carbon emissions, we could replace all fuel-consuming vehicles with electric ones. Congestion would still be caused by the cruising of a vehicle to find a vacant parking space, even if we used electric vehicles. 3, record 6, English, - parking%20congestion

How can we make the engine more efficient without giving up a single horsepower of performance when we need it? These days, the answer is engine downspeeding. This is not a reduction in the size of the engine; instead, it's a reduction in the rpm [revolutions per minute] of the engine, especially at highway cruising speeds between 61 and 68 miles per hour. Downspeeding allows the engine to cruise in its sweet spot, reducing friction and increasing fuel efficiency. 1, record 15, English, - engine%20downspeeding

3, record 27, French, - v%C3%A9hicule%20hybride%20%C3%A0%20configuration%20en%20parall%C3%A8le

The multiplace airplane is used chiefly in an administrative role. It is normally found in the headquarters of units above the regimental level. Its missions require flights over greater distances than those required of the tactical two-place airplane. Generally, it operates between improved airfields; however, it is capable of operating on relatively smooth, unimproved soil fields. In keeping with these operating conditions, its cruising speed, range, and payload are increased, but at some sacrifice of visibility, ability to fly at slow speeds, and ability to land or take off in short distances. For ease of maintenance, its construction is kept as simple as possible. 4, record 34, English, - multiplace%20aeroplane

A stay used on racing and cruising yachts to counteract the strain produced by the thrust of a gaff on the mast. It runs from masthead over a short strut placed at the height of the gaff jaws when the sail is hoisted, down to the deck, where it is spliced around the mast beneath a cleat. The speed and altitude regimes of these vehicles are bounded by physical and practical limits. At a given altitude, dynamic pressure limitations set maximum and minimum speeds; the minimum is what it takes to lift the vehicle, and the maximum is what the structure can be built to stand. The limits form a hypersonic funnel, a band of increasing Mach and increasing altitude within which lies the optimum cruising envelope for each vehicle. 1, record 73, English, - hypersonic%20funnel
