Blue dwarf of oats, caused by the oat blue dwarf virus, is transmitted from diseased to healthy plants during the process of feeding by adult aster leafhoppers(Macrosteles fascifrons). Immature leafhoppers may occasionally transmit the blue dwarf virus... An oat plant infected with blue dwarf is greatly stunted and becomes uniformly dark bluish green. The leaves, especially the flag leaf, are stiffer, shorter than normal... and stand out at a greater angle from the culm than those of healthy plants. Enations occur on the leaf and culm veins. Tillers appear in larger numbers, and may form above the crown. Infected plants usually remain green in the field longer than healthy plants. 2, record 2, English, - oat%20blue%20dwarf%20virus

We constructed a simulation model which incorporates current knowledge an relating small grain development to environmental factors. The model is predicated to phyllochron(the interval between appearance of successive leaves on a culm) as the of time measuring the interval between events during the development of the plant. T was first constructed to simulate winter wheat in the Northern hemisphere(Found on the internet at wwwswcru. unl. edu). 2, record 5, English, - phyllochron

To identify QTLs associated with horticultural yield it is necessary to conduct replicated plot trials of the tested genotypes. The first step in the utilization of an introgression-line (IL) population of Lycopersicon pennellii in a processing-tomato variety (M82) for mapping such QTLs was to screen 51 ILs in a non-replicated plot trial. The results of this survey were compared to those obtained in a replicated trial of the same genotypes grown as single plants at wide spacing. Fruit characteristics were similar between the two stands, but yield was generally different. (From an abstract found in Dialog). 4, record 6, English, - reference%20variety
