In this paper we compare the findings of this new instrument with those of the General Social Survey, a tried and tested questionnaire which has been in use in Canada for over 20 years... Specifically, we compare these two victimization questionnaires with respect to lifetime victimization and annual victimization for youth between 15 to 17 years of age. The results indicate that, although there are differences between both questionnaires[, they] find similar rates of annual victimization, but differences regarding lifetime victimization.

Ten years ago the federal government asked David Phillips, senior climatologist at Environment Canada, to come up with a reliable comparison of weather extremes across the country. He took into account such factors as extreme cold, the frequency of blowing snow and freezing rain, as well as hours of daylight. He also looked at warm weather nasties such as extreme heat, humidity and thunderstorms. The result of all this work was the Climate Severity Index.

Dragon fever is what happens every June when Dragon Boat racing teams from all over the world compete on the waters of False Creek to celebrate an event that is rooted in Chinese tradition since the 4th century BC. Since it began in Vancouver in 1986, the Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival has become an annual event, with nearly 100 local teams, 2,500 paddlers and over 100,000 spectators.

The Canadian International Dragon Boat Festival or Alcan Dragon Boat Festival takes place every June at False Creek in Vancouver. It is the largest and oldest Dragon Boat Festival outside of Asia. It was founded in 1986 by Honourable David See-Chai Lam and Milton Wong at the 1986 Vancouver World's Fair(Expo 86). It was first produced as a demonstration sport, being the first dragon boat race/festival outside Asia. It has grown in leaps and bounds and is not only recognized as North America's biggest and best, but also as the festival which kick started many other dragon boat festivals in the western world. The Festival was created as a showcase of Vancouver's growing cultural diversity and to promote racial harmony and cross cultural understanding to all Canadians-both new and old.

This famous wheat, commonly known as Red Fife or Scotch Fife in North America, is called "red" because that is its colour when fully ripe and "Fife" after David Fife, the Ontario farmer who was the first to grow it in North America when he sowed it on his farm in 1842. The story of how it got there has taken on aspects of myth and legend. It takes place at various locations across two continents : one often needs to look ahead in time, then back, to understand how it happened.(This section is based on Buller, Chapter III, sec. 23, p. 206-218).

What did David Ricardo mean when he coined the term comparative advantage? According to the principle of comparative advantage, the gains from trade follow from allowing an economy to specialize. If a country is relatively better at making wine than wool, it makes sense to put more resources into wine, and to export some of the wine to pay for imports of wool. This is even true if that country is the world's best wool producer, since the country will have more of both wool and wine than it would have without trade.

The theme was Canada and International Institutions : Meeting the Challenges of the Twenty-First Century. The Forum Report reaffirms the central importance of international institutions, particularly the United Nations, to Canada's security, prosperity and well-being. The Report suggests that Canada should play a lead role in promoting greater efficiency and transparency among international institutions, and provide focussed and performance-based support to international institutions.

Skate Tips: Catamaran. Talk about a blast from the past, catamaraning can be a lot of fun, and it’s real easy to do. All you need is a partner. What you do is you sit on your board sideways facing your partner, while your partner does the same. Position the boards so that you can both put your feet comfortably on the ends of each other’s boards. Once in position, you start down a fairly mellow hill. You turn by having the person on the turning side lean back, like he’s on the trapeze of a catamaran. The person on the nonturning [side] leans in to help out with the turn.

I’m posting today to ask your opinion about whether David should participate in catamaran skateboarding. What is it, you ask? Well, let me explain. There are two skateboarders set parallel to each other a couple of feet apart. Each one is equipped with a toochas pad for comfort and two handles for steering. The riders sit on the boards with their bodies facing each other, their legs resting on the other person's deck, and both looking in the direction of travel. Turning is accomplished by one person leaning back and pulling on their handles, at the same time the other person leans forward and pushes on theirs. There are no brakes.

Much like the Alaska Marine Highway System, a staging area will be used at both ends of the tunnel for vehicles to line up for the next change of direction of travel. Since this is a one way tunnel, vehicles will have to wait their turn to go through the tunnel. In general, only a 15 minute period will be used for cars in one direction and then the direction of travel will be reversed.

Plus une masse nuageuse est chaude et plus elle paraîtra blanche sur l'image [satellite]. Plus une masse nuageuse est froide et plus elle sera grise. En général, pour qu'un nuage soit chaud, il doit être associé à une zone de l'atmosphère où la température est élevée. Ceci est le cas dans les dépressions ou encore mieux, dans les cellules orageuses ou les ouragans. De plus, il faut aussi considérer l'état de la masse nuageuse : est-elle bien structurée, épaisse ou est-elle désorganisée et mince? Sur une image satellite comme celle présentée ci-après, si une masse nuageuse est épaisse et très bien structurée (pas d'éclaircie) elle sera davantage blanche qu'une masse nuageuse pleine de trouées.
