3, record 1, French, - pr%C3%A9vision%20m%C3%A9t%C3%A9orologique%20d%27ensemble

There is a theoretical correlation between time and DNA degradation, although differences in environmental conditions complicates things. Samples subjected to different conditions are unlikely to predictably align to a uniform age-degradation relationship. The environmental effects may even matter after excavation, as DNA decay rates may increase, particularly under fluctuating storage conditions. 1, record 2, English, - DNA%20decay

2, record 2, French, - d%C3%A9gradation%20de%20l%27ADN

Depreciation... due to physical causes... [It] pertains to the physical condition of the structure--the extent of its worn-outness. It is loss in value ordinarily brought about by the action of the elements, or by the wear and tear to which the property has been subjected, or simply as a result of the passage of time, or by all three. It is usually evidenced by decay, cracking, disrepair, structural defects, etc. For purposes of appraisal analysis, it is most common and convenient to divide physical deterioration into curable and incurable components. 3, record 3, English, - physical%20depreciation

Pole-zero cancellation(Tail cancellation) … we approximated the preamp output pulse as a step function, however, in a real preamp pulse, the falling tail is a long exponential decay instead of a simple step function. Consequently, there is a small amplitude undershoot starting at about 7τ. This undershoot decays back to baseline with the long time constant of the preamplifier. At medium to high counting rates, a substantial fraction of the amplifier output pulses will ride on the undershoot from a previous pulse. The apparent pulse amplitudes measured for these pulses will be significantly lower, which deteriorates the energy resolution. Most shaping amplifiers incorporate a pole-zero cancellation circuit to eliminate this undershoot. The benefit of pole-zero cancellation is improved peak shapes and resolution in the energy spectrum at high counting rates. 1, record 16, English, - %20pole%2Dzero%20cancellation%20circuit

Disposal is a permanent method of management in which there is no intention of retrieval and which, ideally, does not rely for its success on the continued need for institutional controls beyond a reasonable period of time. Disposal would be achieved when the wastes are sufficiently isolated by natural or engineered passive containment, or sufficiently reduced in concentration by radioactive decay or dispersal, that the residual risks to human beings and the environment are acceptable. 3, record 18, English, - disposal

Permanent disposal means sequestering the wastes, until they have decayed to a safe level, away from the environment in a permanent facility requiring no monitoring, maintenance, or ongoing institutional controls. ... One unfortunate aspect of the Board’s adherence to this idea is the inhibiting effect it has on the search for simpler solutions, such as long-term storage, that concentrate on improved management of the wastes. 3, record 18, English, - disposal
Record number: 18, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The debate essentially concerns the distinction between storage and disposal. "Storage" involves the retrievability, monitoring, and ongoing institutional control of wastes. It also includes active elements of waste management in such a waste facility (e.g., leachate collection and treatment). By contrast, the concept of disposal assumes that a waste management facility can be designed in such a way that there will be no need for such measures. 3, record 18, English, - disposal

Columns can be operated in an expanded bed form at higher flow rates, so preventing fouling and compression and improving mass transfer. Alternatively packed biocatalyst particles can be used in a trickle-flow mode as in some waste-water processes employing microbial flocs.... Packed columns allow a high concentration of biocatalyst to be used. The product molecules or other inhibitors produced during the reaction are constantly swept out of the reactor so that the concentration of products are minimized-so less product inhibition occurs.... 1, record 19, French, - colonne%20d%27enzyme

A specialized radioactivity log of neutron-gamma log type. A neutron generator produces short bursts of high-energy neutrons (about 14 MeV), which are slowed in the borehole and nearby rocks to thermal energy level (about 0.025 eV); capture by nuclei (especially chlorine) results in gamma-ray emissions. The log is used in cased oil wells to determine changes in fluid saturation during oil production. 2, record 31, English, - pulsed%20neutron%20log

A method of dating applicable to material that have one been heated(e. g. pottery, lava flows). A fraction of the energy released by decay of long-lived radioactive nuclides is stored as trapped electrons, and this energy is released as light upon heating. The age of a sample can be determined if the natural thermoluminescence is measured, the thermoluminescence induced by a known radiation dose is measured, and the radiation dose received by the sample per unit time in the past is measured. 1, record 43, English, - thermoluminescent%20dating

1, record 43, French, - datation%20par%20thermoluminescence
