An electronic funds transfer system introduced in February 1999 and operated by the Canadian Payments Association(CPA). As Canada's new wire payment mechanism, it facilitates the electronic transfer of Canadian dollar payments across the country virtually instantaneously. Although the benefits of LVTS are particularly relevant for large-value transactions, it can be used for payments of any amount, especially those that are time-sensitive. 2, record 11, English, - Large%20Value%20Transfer%20System

2, record 11, French, - Syst%C3%A8me%20de%20transfert%20de%20paiements%20de%20grande%20valeur

A financial service offered by IFC, involving the structuring of IFC and co-investor equity exposures in such a way as to take advantage of differences in their risk-preferences and perceptions, generating benefits which can be shared by both. An investor making an investment in the equity of a developing country enterprise, instead of making the investment directly, gives the money to IFC in return for a U. S. dollar debt instrument. IFC makes the investment in its own name but has a contractual agreement with the investor regarding voting of shares, management and long-term strategy for the enterprise. 1, record 13, English, - Guaranteed%20Recovery%20of%20Investment%20Principal

During World War I most countries suspended the redeemability of their currencies into gold..., withdrew gold coins from circulation, and concentrated gold holdings in official reserves. The currencies of most belligerent countries did not, however, depreciate by much in terms of gold and the dollar because of official pegging operations supported by gold sales, foreign borrowing, liquidation of assets abroad, and imposition of some import and exchange controls. At the end of the war the United States was virtually the only country on a full gold standard. 1, record 15, English, - full%20gold%20standard
