Flyball races match two teams of four dogs each, racing side-by-side over a fifty one foot long course. Each dog must run in relay fashion down the jumps, trigger a flyball box, releasing the ball, retrieve the ball, and return over the jumps. The next dog is released to run the course but can’t cross the start/finish line until the previous dog has returned over all four jumps and reached the start/finish line. The first team to have all four dogs finish the course without error wins the heat. 2, record 3, English, - flyball

2, record 3, French, - flyball

Pit sawing operations have a long and vibrant history. Well before circular saws were used to saw logs lengthwise, they were processed by placing them over a "pit"-hence the reference to "pit saw. "The saw operates vertically up and down. Operated by two men, a man on top, known as the "Top Dog", guided the saw as it was pulled down in a cutting motion by the "Underdog. "The "Top dog" recovered the saw and the "Underdog" then pulled it down in a cutting motion again. Needless to say the "Underdog" copped a fair bit of sawdust. The top of the saw has a fixed "tiller handle" so the topdog can guide it and cut a straight line. The lower part of the saw has a "block" which is easily detachable with a wedge. Rescue transceivers are an efficient method to locate victims, but two problems have limited the number of survivors who were wearing transceivers. First, few who wear transceivers are well practiced in using them instantly and efficiently to save a life; and second, even with a quick pinpointing of the burial location, extricating the victim from deeper burials may take too long to save a life. 2, record 8, English, - burial%20location

An avalanche dog is trained to track a wide area of snow-covered space in a rapid zig-zag pattern, searching for pools of human scent that rise up above the snow. A hot dog is classified as a type of sausage or, alternatively, a sandwich on a suitably shaped bun with the sausage and condiments on it. Also called a frankfurter (named after the city of Frankfurt am Main, Germany) or a frank, a wiener (named after the city of Wien, Austria known as Vienna in English), or (with tongue in cheek) a tube steak. Hot dogs are eaten with a wide variety of condiments, most common of which are mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, sauerkraut, pickle relish, chopped onion, chopped lettuce, tomato (chopped, sliced, or in wedges), pickle spear, and chilli pepper. A hot dog served with all available condiments is known as a hot dog with "the works", or "everything." 4, record 9, English, - hot%20dog

Other variations are found. A hot dog served with the addition of cheese is known as a "cheese hotdog" or simply a "cheese dog"... A hot dog served with the addition of chili is known as a "chili dog". A hot dog served with both of these would be a "chili cheese dog"... A hot dog on a stick fried in corn batter is commonly called a corn dog... What is "cone of scent"? Odour particles always travel in the shape of a cone. A cone of scent is always concentrated and narrow at the source, and becomes wider and more diluted the further it travels. When a detector dog detects a substance that it has been trained to interdict, it uses the cone of scent to pinpoint the source of the odour. It starts by moving from one side to the other and back again in order to define the search area. Then, by moving up and down the cone, the dog can determine in which direction the odour becomes stronger. The dog can then follow the ever-narrowing cone of scent to its source. 1, record 11, English, - cone%20of%20scent

1, record 11, French, - c%C3%B4ne%20de%20d%C3%A9tection%20olfactive
