Bell’s palsy causes sudden, temporary weakness in your facial muscles ... [It] can occur at any age. The exact cause is unknown. Or it might be a reaction that occurs after a viral infection. 5, record 2, English, - Bell%20palsy

The cause of the edema an dischemia is still being debated. In the past, cold exposure(e. g. chilly wind, cold air conditioning, or driving with the car window down) were considered the only triggers to Bell palsy. Paragliders have no rigid structure and are kept in shape by the internal pressure of air, with the pilot suspended by lines beneath. The pilot is clipped into a harness and oriented in a sitting position for maximum comfort. After laying out the wing and lines, launching is simply a matter of moving down the slope a few steps to tension the lines and allow the wind to inflate the wing and raise it above you. A short run forward to pick up airspeed and you’re airborne! 4, record 10, English, - launching
Record number: 10, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Paraglider pilots launch from gentle hillsides with their gliders already opened for flight; if the glider isn’t flying properly, the launch can be aborted before leaving the ground. Paragliding launches are not as "committing"; if you want to stop your launch, you just stop running and the canopy floats down behind you. The pilot runs down a gentle slope and glides away from the mountain. 2, record 10, English, - launching

An airborne wind turbine is a design concept for a wind turbine that is supported in the air without a tower. A tether would be used to transmit energy to the ground. These systems would have the advantage of tapping an almost constant wind and doing so without a set of slip rings or yaw mechanism, without the expense of tower construction. The main disadvantage is that kites and "helicopters" come down when there is insufficient wind. These schemes require a very long power cable and an aircraft exclusion zone. As of 2006, no commercial airborne wind turbines are in regular operation. 4, record 13, English, - airborne%20wind%20turbine

Il serait doté de deux rotors et produirait de l'électricité à une hauteur de cinq kilomètres où soufflent des vents forts et réguliers. Cette centrale «volante» serait maintenue par un câble qui transporterait l'électricité collectée jusqu'au sol. A "grip" can be wrapped around the "shaft" of the racquet. To avoid confusion (the term "grip" alone could refer to a certain way of grasping the racquet), use one of the following terms: "overgrip", "replacement grip" or "grip covering". Note that for marketing purposes, competing manufacturers will make a distinction between the 3 terms. Indeed some tennis purists would rather use the term "overgrip" for the material that one slides over an existing and worn-out covering and the term "replacement grip" for the material that one wraps over the shaft after removing the worn-out one. If in doubt, use the more generic term "grip covering" which can apply to either of these two types. Nonetheless the average tennis player will likely use the abbreviated term "grip" even though it is both ambiguous and polysemous since the context will normally provide ample clarification. 2, record 16, English, - grip%20covering

Un «grip» en mauvais état est souvent cause d'ampoules aux doigts et à la paume de la main. Ne pas confondre avec «poignet», bandeau que l'on porte autour du poignet pour absorber la transpiration. The Earth's magnetic field presents an obstacle to the solar wind, as a rock in a running stream of water. This obstacle is called a bow shock. The solar wind is ejected from the Sun at tremendous velocities, and as it approaches the Earth, its momentum compresses the outward extension of the geomagnetic field on the dayside of the Earth and greatly elongates it on the nightside to form the magnetosphere. At a certain distance "upstream" from Earth, the incoming solar wind flow is slowed and deflected by the dayside geomagnetic field, forming a supersonic shock wave located in front of the magnetosphere. This shock wave is known as the bow shock because of its similarity to the wave at the bow of a moving ship. 4, record 38, English, - bow%20shock

Downbursts occur in regions of a severe thunderstorm where the air is accelerated downward by exceptionally strong evaporative cooling occurs(a dry downburst) or by very heavy rain which drags dry air down with it(a wet downburst). When the rapidly descending air strikes the ground, it spreads outward in all directions in a circle, like a fast-running faucet hitting the sink bottom. Dr. Fujita has defined downbursts as a surface wind in excess of 62 km/hr(39 mph) caused by a small-scale downdraft from the base of a convective cloud. Mountain ranges have some very interesting weather patterns. One of these amazing phenomenons is the valley wind. Valley winds originate on south facing slopes in the northern hemisphere, and north-facing slopes in the southern hemisphere. When the face of the mountain and surrounding air is heated, the density of the air decreases. This results in the air rising to the top of the slope. During night, the process is reversed, and the air turns into a down slope wind. These winds can be quite powerful. 2, record 44, English, - downslope%20wind

The Sun emits a steady flow of electrically-charged particles called the solar wind. As the solar wind expands supersonically into space, it creates a magnetized bubble around the Sun--the heliosphere. Eventually, the solar wind runs into the electrically-charged particles and magnetic field in the interstellar gas. The solar wind abruptly slows down from supersonic to subsonic speed, creating a termination shock. Before both spacecraft travel beyond the heliopause into interstellar space, they must pass through that shockwave. 2, record 46, English, - termination%20shock

Traditional wind towers rise five or six meters above a house. They are usually built of wood or stone but can also be made from canvas. The tower is open on all four sides and catches even small breezes. The breeze create a low pressure zone which will draw air up from the house causing to create natural ventilation. The towers work amazingly well. Sitting beneath a wind tower even on a hot day you will feel a consistent breeze even when the outside air feels heavy and still. 3, record 49, English, - wind%20tower

Le dispositif est complété par les «tours à vent» en poteaux de bois, supportant quatre grandes pièces de tissu disposées selon les diagonales, de manière à capter les vents venant de toutes les directions. Waves are formed due to the friction of the wind over the water surface. The three main components for wave generation are the wind speed, it's duration and fetch.... How to recognise a swell/wave generating area. On a weather chart there are high and low pressure systems. They are separated by isobars(lines joining places of equal pressure). Buys Ballot's law states :"If you stand with your back to the wind in the northern hemisphere, the low pressure will be on your left. "From this you can deduce the wind flows anticlockwise around a low pressure system and almost parallel to the isobars. The wind near the surface actually flows at an angle of about 15 degrees to the isobars pointing in to the low. The reason for this is that friction with the surface slows the air down and it is this friction which causes waves to form. Assuming you have identified an area of closely packed isobars which are almost straight for 200 miles and the low system is not changing to quickly, you have found a good swell generating area. 3, record 50, English, - wave%20generation%20area

In order to predict the atmospheric concentrations of sulphur dioxide and sulphates down wind of source regions several phenomena must be quantitatively accounted for : 1. atmospheric transport and diffusion [;] 2. precipitation scavenging [;] 3. dry deposition at the earth's surface [;] 4. conversion of SO2 to sulphates. The simplest approach to solving this problem uses a "trajectory box model" with appropriate parameterization of items 2 to 4 above. This type of model has been applied in Europe and is presently being adopted to the North American scene by the Atmospheric Environment Service. 1, record 59, English, - trajectory%20box%20model
