Stockings(or hose) or hose tops were... worn on the lower leg. The hose tops were a derivation of the knitted stockings which emerged not from tradition but convenience. When the toes and heels of a soldier's stockings wore away he would cut them back until eventually he would be left with a saddle where the sole of his stocking once was. When this too wore away he was left with nothing but the upper portion of his stocking, preserved today as hose tops, an item of dress still issued to highland soldiers in the modern Australian army.

Halloween is celebrated on October 31st in Canada. Halloween is a favorite family celebration-a time for traditions such as dressing in costumes, trick-or-treating around the neighbourhood, and carving pumpkins. Children dress up in funny or scary costumes and go "trick or treating, "and neighbours are expected to respond by giving them small treats. Adults may also dress in costume for Halloween parties. Halloween(the evening before All Saints or All Hallows Day) is a secular celebration based on ancient Druid customs dating back to 700 B. C. The Druids, a Celtic religious order in ancient Britain, Ireland and France, believed that the souls of the dead returned to mingle with the living on "hallowed eve, "October 31. Each year on that night, the Druids would make bonfires and offer sacrifices of crops and animals, and individuals would dress in costumes to disguise themselves from these spirits.

Halloween est l'héritière de la fête de «Samhain», célébrée il y a plus de 2 500 ans chez les Celtes et les Gaulois. Cette fête était la plus importante de leurs fêtes. Dans le monde celte, la nuit du 31 octobre au 1er novembre était le début de la nouvelle année. C'était la fête de la divinité celtique Samhain. Elle était marquée par tout un cérémonial. Pendant cette nuit les esprits des trépassés pouvaient revenir dans leur demeure terrestre et les vivants devaient les accueillir. Mais l'ouverture des portes de l'autre monde permettait aussi l'intrusion d'esprits maléfiques. Les esprits des morts de l'année devaient partir dans l'autre monde.

The King's Theatre was built in 1905 and opened in 1906. The Theatre originally has Stalls and three circles-Dress, Family and Gallery. The Gallery was uncomfortable and latterly unsafe and was removed in the fifties reducing the Theatre to three levels with additional seating at the back of what is now called the Upper Circle. The present seating capacity is 1350.
