CONT

Dual-arm space robots are more capable of implementing complex space tasks compared with single arm space robots. However, the dynamic coupling between the arms and the base will have a serious impact on the spacecraft attitude and the hand motion of each arm. Instead of considering one arm as the mission arm and the other as the balance arm, in this work two arms of the space robot perform as mission arms aimed at accomplishing secure capture of a floating target.

Principles of gyroscopic action.... Dynamic stability. When the cone sits on its base on a flat surface and is tipped slightly, it returns to its original position when the tipping force is removed. This is said to be a statically stable position. If the cone is turned over, it may momentarily be possible to balance it on its pointed end, but the slightest tipping force will make it fall on its side. The latter position is said to be statically unstable.

Dynamic stabilizers of the patella also control tibial rotation and patellar gliding. Thus, weakness or insufficiency of the VMO [vastus medialis obliquus] in participants with PFPS [patellofemoral pain syndrome] may contribute to abnormal lateral movement of the patella. This abnormal lateral movement may, as a compensatory mechanism, increase knee valgus and hip internal rotation and decrease knee flexion, which could influence the performance in the anterior directions of the SEBT [Star Excursion Balance Test] among those with PFPS.

In the rigid-airfoil study, the airfoil is set to either torsional or flapping motion at different oscillatory frequencies. Different freestream Mach numbers and preset angles of attack are also included in the test matrix. Moreover, the test matrix also accounts for different positions of the wake flow survey rake, traversable in the airfoil downstream. A combination of these parameters must be used to locate a specific experimental data set.

OBS

The prediction of these operating limits has been an area of active research at the NRC [National Research Council] Institute for Aerospace Research(NRC Aerospace) for the past decade. In addition to standard airwake flow survey capabilities, NRC Aerospace researchers have developed an unparalleled high-fidelity wind tunnel simulation of the helicopter/ship dynamic interface. The combination of a scaled powered rotor and a fuselage model mounted around a stiff, lightweight balance has led to a unique capability.

OBS

A pressure rake probe was used to confirm the inlet endwall boundary layer thicknesses. Five-hole probe wake surveys were performed to determine loss coefficients and axial velocity ratios.

Carbon-14 Method. Radiocarbon dating techniques, first developed by the American chemist Willard F. Libby and his associates at the University of Chicago in 1947, are frequently useful in unravelling time-related problems in archaeology, anthropology, oceanography, pedology, climatology, and recent geology. Through metabolic activity, the level of carbon-14 in a living organism remains in constant balance with the level in the atmosphere or some other portion of the earth's dynamic reservoir, such as the ocean. Upon the organism's death, carbon-14 begins to disintegrate at a known rate, and no further replacement of carbon from atmospheric carbon dioxide can take place. The rapid disintegration of carbon-14 generally limits the dating period to approximately 50, 000 years, although the method is sometimes extended to 70, 000 years. Uncertainty in measurement increases with the age of the sample. Carbon dating works well on organic specimens such as wood, bone and cloth that are between 2 000 and 20 000 years old.

CONT

The aim of this section is to calculate the torques which have to be generated in the leg joints to hold the leg in a statically stable position. Dynamic forces will not be taken into consideration, since all movements of the robot are slow. First, the torques will be calculated as functions of the leg geometry, position, and the weight to be supported by the leg. Afterwards, these general expressions will be evaluated for a real robot leg.
