The general theory of structures is based on a static calculation, which means to say that both the structure and the loads acting on it are at rest, or may simulate this condition because they act slowly. But the structure and load acting on it cannot always be deemed to be at rest, because the dynamic effect of forces may cause accelerations in it, which lead to failure. Wind and earthquakes are forces with a significant dynamic effect on bridges but it must also be borne in mind that traffic loads are moving and, in fact, the dynamic effect of these loads are taken into account via impact factors... 2, record 2, English, - traffic%20load

A non-visible disability is a disability or health condition that is not immediately obvious. It can defy stereotypes of what people might think disabled people look like.... Some "non-visible" conditions are visible or obvious sometimes. Also, they can be "seen" by some people who might have a better understanding of the condition. But they are not usually visible to others.... some people with non-visible disabilities might have a "dynamic disability. "This means that sometimes they might use a mobility aid, but other times they might not need it. Likewise, sometimes they might need to use a priority seat on busy public transport. Other times they may not feel they need to. 5, record 4, English, - non%2Dapparent%20disability

Thermal conditioning. There are two basic processes for thermal treatment of sludges. One, wet air oxidation, is the flameless oxidation of sludges at temperatures of 450 to 550 °F and pressures of about 1200 psig. The other type, heat treatment, is similar but carried out at temperatures of 350 to 400 ºF and pressures of 150 to 300 psig. Wet air oxidation reduces the sludge to an ash and heat treatment improves the dewaterability of the sludge. The lower temperature and pressure heat treatment is more widely used than the oxidation process. 3, record 6, English, - thermal%20conditioning

Occupants should be securely fastened to the seat with the seat cushion almost completely compressed to prevent a condition called dynamic overshoot or “seat slap. ” Dynamic overshoot occurs when there is excessive cushioning, under-Gz [negative g force] which is lifting you off the seat, pulling legs back in anticipation. The net effect is additional Gz forces because the seat has farther to travel prior to contact of the individual. 1, record 7, English, - dynamic%20overshoot

We introduce a simple approach to finding approximate solutions to combinatorial problems. This approach called the Radial Search(RS) uses the concept of rings which define the location and size of search areas around current good solutions. It iteratively modifies the radii of these rings, and generates new centres, in order to cover the search space. A concentration step corresponds to choosing a solution as the centre of a new ring. An expansion step corresponds to the exploration around a given centre by increasing and reducing the radius of the ring until a better solution than the centre is found. This dynamic process of concentration and expansion of the search is repeated until a stopping condition is met. 1, record 9, English, - radial%20search

Middle-range theory consists of three fundamental assumptions that archaeologists must use to reconstruct the dynamic behaviors of the past from the static objects found in the archaeological record : 1) Once the components of the archaeological record ceased to be affected by the cultural system that created them, a static condition was achieved that has since been affected by natural processes and cultural behaviors unrelated to the initial formation of the record. 2) The archaeological record is a static phenomenon that exists only in the present. At any other moment in time, the actual manifestation of this record may be different than what you see right now. 3) To reconstruct the past dynamic behaviors, we must understand the relationship between the static record and the behaviors that created it. Middle range-research intends to address these assumptions by examining the factors that create and influence the relationship between the archaeological record and the original dynamic behaviors. As discussed in class, this research includes ethnographic analogy, ethnoarchaeology, and experimental archaeology. 1, record 14, English, - middle%2Drange%20theory

Representing the evolution in time of a dynamic system by left shifts of the digits in a suitable number system brings out another important property of systems for which such a representation is possible. No matter how accurately the initial condition x0 of a coordinate is known, the accuracy will always be finite, that is, the digits of x0 to the right of the last known digit will be unknown. As the dynamic system evolves in time, the unknown digits will be shifted to the left; that is, they will grow in significance, and will sooner or later arrive at the "decimal" point and thus dominate the behavior of the system. And because the digits are unknown, this behavior will be completely unpredictable. The resulting motion is called chaotic. 2, record 16, English, - chaotic

To maintain this converged condition of the beams as they swing away from the center, it is also necessary to vary their relative angles slightly. This process of changing the beam angle so that it will be in step with the scanning is referred to as dynamic convergence. It is required because the distance traveled by the beams increases as they swing away from the center of the screen. 3, record 17, English, - dynamic%20convergence
