DYNAMIC CONVERSION [3 records]

Record 1 2018-12-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Areal Planning (Urban Studies)
CONT

Land conversion is a fundamental—some would say the only—issue common to planning and property. Land conversion means the transformation of open space into building land and requires a dynamic interaction between planners, landowners, developers, and other stakeholders.

Domaine(s)
  • Aménagement du territoire
CONT

Le volet de la conversion des terres prévoit le versement d'incitatifs financiers aux producteurs désireux de convertir en couverture végétale permanente des sols de mauvaise qualité qui sont affectés à des cultures annuelles.

Subject field(s)
  • Traction (Rail)
CONT

During dynamic braking, the rotors of the electric motors are allowed to rotate and produce electricity. By generating electricity, the conversion of energy provides resistance to movement that reduces the speed of the train. The converted electrical energy is then used or expelled into the atmosphere as heat. Dynamic braking is a general term used to describe the use of an electric motor as a generator to dissipate energy.

OBS

This type of braking is more precisely described by one of two terms, regenerative and rheostatic braking ... The difference between the two types of dynamic braking is what is done with the electricity after it has been produced. In regenerative braking, the electricity is either immediately reused ... or it is stored for later use. ... Rheostatic braking occurs when the electrical energy that is produced is run through resistors and dissipated as heat energy.

Subject field(s)
  • Measuring Instruments (Engineering)
CONT

The optical extensometer is a robust and extremely accurate fiber-optic displacement transducer. Its compact design allows it to measure a wide range of length changes and displacements of up to 5 mm. The optical extensometer registers these mechanical variables with a sensing head and converts them internally into optical signals. Conversion is performed in accordance with a patented microbending principle. The optical extensometer is able to register static and dynamic measurement variable over periods ranging from brief to many years, in accordance with the users requirements.
