The laboratory is also involved in three other Cluster experiments : PEACE(Plasma Electron and Current Analyser), which is designed to measure the electrons, WHISPER(Waves of High Frequency and Sounder for Probing of Electron Density by Relaxation), and FGM(Fluxgate Magnetometer), which is going to study the continuous magnetic field.

The experiment consists of a sounder that can be in passive mode to measure (via passive analysis) the natural wave emissions in high-frequency range, (4-80 kHz) or in active mode (emission of short pulses of sine wave during 1 millisecond and listening to the electric field signal transmitted to the other antennas) to identify the plasma resonances and then the total electron density.

The WHISPER instrument [Waves of High Frequency and Sounder for Probing of Electron Density by Relaxation] yields two data sets :(i) the electron density determined via the relaxation sounder, and(ii) the spectrum of natural plasma emissions in the frequency band 2-80 kHz. Both data sets allow three dimensional exploration of the magnetosphere by the Cluster mission.
