Problems in the class NP(which stands for nondeterministic, polynomial time) are characterized by the fact that although it is easy to check a nondeterministic, or guessed, solution, it is hard to find a correct solution : As the size n of an NP problem increases, the number of computational steps and hence the time required to check a solution increase in proportion to a polynomial function of n such as [the square of n](...), but all known methods of finding a solution increase in proportion to a more rapidly growing function of n, typically an exponential one(...) 1, record 1, English, - NP%20problem

The hydrogen-ion concentration and the hydrogen-ion activity of most solutions is a small number that can be expressed in exponential form. In order to eliminate the use of exponential numbers in expressing hydrogen-ion concentration, S. P. L. Sorensen in 1909 introduced the concept of pH.... This table brings out certain characteristics of the pH unit. A neutral solution has a pH of 7, acid solutions have a pH less than 7, and basic solutions have a pH greater than 7. 1, record 2, English, - pH%20unit

1, record 2, French, - unit%C3%A9%20de%20pH
