Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 DEF
[In the case of unmounted oculars covering one eye, ] the point on the ocular specified by the manufacturer as the design reference point and at the specified orientation relative to the test instrument's optical axis. 1, record 1, English, - reference%20point
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
In the absence of any specific instructions, the unmounted ocular should be tested at its boxed centre and normal to its surface. 1, record 1, English, - reference%20point
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
The values for the dioptric and prismatic power measured normal to the surface might differ from that measured at the specified orientation relative to the eye’s line of sight because the angle of incidence of the ray path through the ocular might not be the same. 1, record 1, English, - reference%20point
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 3 OBS
In standard ISO 4007, three definitions are provided for "reference points" or "visual centres" depending on whether the terms refer to 1. mounted oculars; 2. unmounted oculars covering one eye; and 3. unmounted oculars covering both eyes. 2, record 1, English, - reference%20point

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 OBS
1, record 1, French, - point%20de%20r%C3%A9f%C3%A9rence

On the front of the [machine] needle, you’ll see the point of the needle that pierces the fabric. Above that is the eye which the top thread runs through, and the groove which runs all along the shaft of the needle. This groove allows the thread to be nestled inside, protecting it as the needle runs through the material and keeping it out of the way so it can glide through the material without protruding, thus creating smooth and even stitches. 2, record 3, English, - needle%20groove

Viewing Distance at Computer Workstations.... Accommodation is when the lens capsule in your eye changes shape to focus on a close object. The eyes have a default accommodation distance, called the resting point of accommodation(RPA). That is the distance at which the eyes focus when there is nothing to focus on. In total darkness our eyes are set to focus at a particular distance, so that if the lights were turned on, an object at that distance would be in clear focus. ... reading from a computer screen ... Our eyes have what is called a "dark focus." This is the point in space where your focus would be if your eyes were totally relaxed. Imagine a pitch black room. In such an environment, where you can’t see anything, your eyes are actually focusing on a fixed point in space, that is why it is called the "dark" focus. This focus is known as the Resting Point of Accommodation (RPA) and is unique to every individual, but it usually rests more than three feet away from your face (and does not depend on time of day or age). 6, record 14, English, - resting%20point%20of%20accommodation

Illuminance(usually ’E’ in formulas) is the total amount of visible light illuminating(incident upon) a point on a surface from all directions above the surface. Typical illuminance values are: 1 lx = full moon; 10 lx = street lighting; 100-1 000 lx = workspace lighting; 10 000 lx = surgery lighting; 100 000 lx = plain sunshine. 4, record 37, English, - illuminance

Similar Triangles. When viewing objects in the real world, the light rays from the objects within the viewer's field of view enter the eye radially rather than in parallel as in the orthographic projection. The eye is very small compared to the scene it is viewing, and the light rays are projected to the point(the eye) rather than a plane. The equations for the projection are derived using the "similar triangles" method, where the triangle formed by the viewer's eye, space z, and space point is similar to that formed by the eye, the screen distance from the viewer's eye, and the screen point. 1, record 42, English, - similar%20triangles

Container gardening. Consider planting large containers filled with colorful annual flowers to brighten up dull spots in your landscape or camouflage a bad view. Containers can add height and dimension to a landscape. Bright flowers attract attention and become a focal point, drawing the eye away from a bad view. Thoughtfully placed they can become utilitarian pieces, too. A container can become a decorative flowering barrier, which your neighbors may appreciate more than a fence or a hedge. 1, record 46, English, - container%20gardening
