A trolling line is a line with one or more baited hooks(or lures) towed behind a boat. The boat may tow many lines, often from outriggers... or a single line hand-tended by a small crew in a dinghy... The lines may be near the surface or some distance below the surface depending on where in the water column the fish aggregate, which can be adjusted by the amount of weight on each line, the length of the line and the towing speed. 3, record 1, English, - trolling%20line

4, record 1, French, - ligne%20de%20tra%C3%AEne

Estimates of catch typically make up the bulk of the data that is applied to a stock assessment model. But most stock assessment models also require some kind of index of abundance. The index of abundance is a value that indicates the trend in relative abundance over time. Often[, ] an index of abundance is simply the number of fish caught during a survey. The index of abundance for a cod stock, for example, may be the average number of cod caught per tow from a research vessel. Each tow would be of a specified length, depth and speed using a standardized net, so that the index of abundance values could be compared over time. 3, record 11, English, - abundance%20index

Volumetric estimates of fish in holding bins(converted to weight) comprise a more accurate method for deriving total catch weight. To apply this technique, first calculate the weight capacity of the holding bin from its volume. If the bin is cubic or rectangular, multiply its length(L), width(W), and height(W) to derive volume … If the holding area is odd-shaped, draw a diagram that separates it into symmetrical portions, calculate volume for each portion, then add these volumes. 1, record 15, English, - total%20catch%20weight

Interview questions are designed to obtain information regarding the number of anglers in a party, number of rods used, the length of time fished, and the number of fish kept and released by species. This information is used to model fishery effects such as effort, catch rate, and harvest for various recreational fish species. Juvenile salmonids have been tagged with coded wires in northwestern North America for about 20 years... By this method, a 1-mm length of wire is given a binary code and inserted with an injector into the nasal region of a young fish. The adipose fin is removed and the tagged fish are then released for their seaward migrations. The returning adults are identified by the missing adipose fin. Their snouts are then removed and passed through a magnetometer to locate the wire, which is removed and decoded. A dissection microscope is used to decode the binary notching on the wire. 3, record 35, English, - coded%20wire
